Who
Cassidy Goble, Reputation Management Analyst
What
Birmingham Business Journal’s NextGen BHM: Money Awards honor the next generation of leaders in the banking, finance and wealth management industries in Birmingham, Alabama. These awards recognize individuals 30 and under who are already making waves in the industry.
Why
Regions’ Reputation Management team works closely with groups across the organization to protect the bank’s good name. Cassidy Goble is a key member of that team, which is part of Regions Legal department, and her work directly impacts Regions’ success.
Goble was instrumental in the buildout of a new program that enhanced processes to ensure Regions bankers thoroughly understand all aspects of the customer relationship from the earliest stages, to anticipate and identify any issues. Goble created the messaging platform, built training modules and has rolled out the Enhanced Identification Program to more than 3,000 Regions associates so far.
Goble joined Regions in 2020 as an intern in the Emerging Talent Program and was immediately identified as a rising star. She began in the Risk Management department and contributed to major projects such as Regions’ LIBOR Transition, which was a significant transformation in the banking industry. Goble also designed and built Risk Management resource plans for Regions’ core operating system replacement project and played a key role in the bank’s Resolution Planning initiative.
She was hired in her current role last year, and according to Susan Anderson, head of Reputation Management at Regions, she has already made a big impact.
“The Enhanced Identification Program was a huge accomplishment, and I’m very proud of Cassidy for her leadership and effective management in getting that project off the ground,” Anderson said.
Goble gives that same level of energy and commitment to her local community. She serves on the board of Firehouse Ministries and is a past board member for Kid One Transport. Goble is also active with her church, Redeemer Community Church in Avondale. Additionally, she co-created a Young Professional Group – an informal networking and service organization that hosted community outreach events with Regions peers.
In her own words
“I was thrilled to have the experience of seeing an idea come to fruition with the Enhanced Identification Program. I’ve had a role in several big initiatives since starting at Regions, but this project gave me an opportunity to own and take responsibility for every part of it.
I learned many valuable lessons that helped build my skills and grow my career. When I ran into challenges, I just took a step back and looked for ways to adapt and modify my plan. Thankfully, Regions is full of knowledgeable, accessible associates who are always providing helpful feedback and are eager to see everyone succeed.”
Who
Alexa O’Neal, Risk Management Analyst
What
Birmingham Business Journal’s NextGen BHM: Money Awards honorees were selected based on their contributions to their companies, their role in the industry, the likelihood of them becoming a key leader in the field and their role in the community. An editorial panel at the BBJ selected the winners, who were highlighted in the print version of BBJ and on BBJ.com.
Why
O’Neal’s journey at Regions began in Model Risk Management and Validation, which she says provided good structure and a strong foundation for building her skills while also emphasizing personal development and networking.
The next step in her career trajectory was joining the Regions LIBOR Transition team within Risk Management. This was an important initiative executed by a small group of associates, which afforded O’Neal the opportunity to have considerable responsibility and ownership in a specific area. She was charged with managing a key vendor relationship and provided guidance and training for the outside team of experts – until management determined she could provide more accuracy and efficiency by performing the work herself.
“Alexa has made a huge impact in her four years at Regions,” said Irina Pritchett, Risk Initiative and Integration manager. “The LIBOR transition was a major change that affected the entire financial services industry, and Regions was no exception. It required thousands of hours of painstaking, detailed work by our team, and Alexa was a true leader in that effort.”
O’Neal is now part of the Risk Initiative and Integration group, which provides coordination and oversight around major bank initiatives. She works on multiple projects that encourage next generation automation in banking and risk management processes, leveraging strong partnerships across the organization.
O’Neal volunteers and fundraises for local organizations such as Girls Inc. of Central Alabama and First Light. She’s passionate about animals and animal rescue, but she admits to being a ‘foster fail’, after adopting two cats in the past two years along with her two dogs.
In her own words
“With the help of one of our data teams who built a solution to aid the work, I was able to successfully complete the LIBOR Transition project – with significant savings to the bank. It also gave me the opportunity to gain knowledge and uncover gaps in processes. Then I was able to help provide training and partner with teams to improve those procedures. It was an awesome experience overall.
People say this a lot, and I really think it’s true that the best part of working at Regions is the people. From my teammates to my managers, to their manager – everyone is supportive, smart, hardworking, and fun to be around. To date, I have not had the need to seek mentorship, as mentor relationships have developed organically through my job.
I’m proud of what I’ve learned and what I’ve accomplished with my team. I appreciate the people who have helped me on this journey, for trusting and supporting me. And I look forward to the next challenge in my career at Regions.”
