Good Pets: Thanks for the Memories

Our final installment brings this wonderful series to a rollicking conclusion.

By Doug Segrest | June 28, 2023

All good things come to an end. The key is going out on top.

So, like rock ‘n’ roll greats or sitcom legends, that’s we’re attempting to do with Good Pets.

Oh, we’ll be back soon enough. But, for now, we bid adieu to our spring and summer four-legged friends.

If you missed our three previous submissions, our first article introduced you to Ajax, a 4-pound Morkie pup from Cleveland, Ohio, that loves to be the life of the party – and make new pals along the way. We also met Beesly, a pretty kitty who resides in Lakeland, Florida, and is a 6-month-old rescue named for Pam on “The Office.” There’s also the very dapper doggie Princeton, who lives in Houston, loves to explore Texas and quietly and obediently travels everywhere his family goes.

  • Lucy
Pet: Lucy / Human: Rivera Ruiz / Winter Springs, Florida / Lucy works hard at being an emotional support dog for a member of a family. She does her job well, and always has time for adventure with the entire family.
  • Lucky
Pet: Lucky / Human: Sarah Gray / Rome, Georgia / This aptly named feline has turned stretching into art.
  • Finn
Pet: Finn / Human: Andrea Pope / Birmingham, Alabama / Finn enjoys playing fetch, chewing on sticks and chasing chipmunks with his canine brother, Archie.
  • Doc Holliday
Pet: Doc Holliday / Human: Lauren Garner / Hoover, Alabama / A 2-year-old Blue Heeler, Doc Holliday herds kids instead of cattle. He’s the family park ranger, because he makes sure the 4 acres are free of birds and any pesky rodents that may want to settle down.
  • Banjo
Pet: Banjo / Human: Torian Lane / Brentwood, Tennessee/ Banjo joined his family back in December. Now 6 months old, he loves to play with the other pups – or anyone walking by.
  • Bailey
Pet: Bailey / Human: Debra Atkins / Palm Harbor, Florida / Born on St. Patricks’ Day (hence the full name, Bailey’s Irish Cream), this adorable 11-year-old believes every day is a day at the beach.
  • Archie
Pet: Archie / Human: Andrea Pope / Birmingham, Alabama / Archie enjoys sleeping, special snacks and chasing chipmunks.
  • AnnaMae
Pet: AnnaMae / Human: Starr Glisson / Mineral Bluff, Georgia / AnnaMae loves playing with tennis balls by the dozens. When she’s tired, she’ll kindly place the ball in your lap until she’s ready to play again.
  • Zeus
Pet: Zeus / Human: Jacob Couch / Vestavia Hills, Alabama / Zeus has unmatched focus and determination, especially when playing outside with one of his toys – and you better pay attention, or he will tell you about it.
  • Vinny
Pet: Vinny / Human: Valerie Keller / He’s silly, but also patient – like when his youngest human dresses him up in grocery bags.
  • Sweet Pea
Pet: Sweet Pea / Human: Victoria Fullwood / Conway, South Carolina / She loves to watch TV and will chatter and mew at other animals on the TV screen.
  • Sue
Pet: Sue / Human: Jacob Couch / Vestavia Hills / Sue has the ability to sleep anywhere, anytime. And when it’s bedtime, she’ll stare you down from the stairs.
  • Storm
Pet: Storm / Human: Cynthia Warren / Franklin, Kentucky / Storm sits on the fence post waiting to get a bird. She was dropped at a neighbor's house, but chose this human, which makes her even more special. She’s always entertaining.
  • Squishy
Pet: Squishy / Human: Kimberly McAnarney / Houston, Texas / A 12-year-old Chorkie (Chihuahua and Yorkie mix), Squishy was born without the use of his front legs so he gets plenty of love being held and carried around everywhere. He's a huge Astros and Space Cowboys fan
  • Rudy
Pet: Rudy / Human: Kristy Meanor / Wetumpka, Alabama / With bow tie on, Rudy is puttin’ on the Ritz and ready to meet and greet his fans.
  • Ruby
Pet: Ruby / Human: Danielle Simpson / Texas / She is a gentle, playful giant.
  • Pratt and Whitney
Pets: Pratt and Whitney / Human: Nikki Stock / Frankfort, Indiana / Who needs home security when this daring duo stands guard on their human home?
  • Noodle
Pet: Noodle / Human: Jackie Krause / Augusta, Georgia / This 10-month-old sweetie walks funny, thanks to a handicap he was born with. But that doesn’t stop him from being a loving member of a big brood that includes two older dogs and another cat.
  • Maverick
Pet: Maverick / Human: Jacob Couch / Vestavia Hills / Maverick has the ability to hide all of his brother Zeus’, toys. He’ll even ring the potty bell to trick Zeus that it’s time to go outside when Maverick gets tired of the squeaking sounds.
  • Leah
Pet: Leah / Human: Dawn Zink / Birmingham, Alabama / Leah is a very special pup because she found a home during a Regions’ team volunteer event at the Birmingham Humane Society. Rescued at 4 months old, she just celebrated her first birthday.
  • Lady
Pet: Lady / Human: Suzanne Edwards / Lady is a rescue dog, and her Veterinarian estimates she is at least 15 years old. Yet the old gal still has it.
  • Ivy
Pet: Ivy / Human: Matthew Childress / Orlando, Florida / Ivy would sunbathe all day if she could. Can you blame her? Diagnosed with a heart murmur as a pup, she’s lived twice as long as anyone expected.
  • Bjorn
Pet: Bjorn / Human: Heather Gunn / Springfield, Tennessee / This German Shepherd is the sweetest! He is basically a 60-pound lap dog.
  • Betty
Pet: Betty / Human: Jacob Couch / Vestavia Hills / Betty has an uncanny ability to protect our street with her fierce barking, even when it is a piece of paper blowing down the road.
  • Beau Lawson
Pet: Beau / Human: Brooke Lawson / San Antonio, Texas / Beau is a loving, social and goofy dog – and since remote working became popular, he’s also the “best friend at work” for his human.

Our second article was just as much a gem. It includes Bernie, who has it made in the St. Louis shade. There’s Bowser, who loves his daily walks in his South Florida neighborhood. And over in Chattanooga, Cooper is game for anything outdoors – from chasing frisbees to riding in a kayak.

Installment No. 3 featured Sherlock, who has turned porch sunbathing into a daily ritual. There’s the well-traveled Shadow, who loves to travel but always prefers a trip to the Florida Keys. Then there’s double the fun from Reese and Kanan, a loveable duo that also protect their family.

The fun doesn’t stop there. We’ve also got Ecards for all occasions. From Spring to Summer to celebrations and more. Be sure to check out our full library of festive and free outreach!
