FORE! Regions Center Celebrates the Countdown to the Regions Tradition

The Regions Tradition, now in its 33rd year, has raised more than $25 million for charities including Children’s of Alabama hospital and First Tee-Birmingham.

By Jennifer Elmore | April 2, 2026

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – April 2, 2026 – Regions Bank on Thursday flipped the switch at its headquarters tower to start the official countdown to the Regions Tradition, scheduled to run this year from April 29 through May 3 at Greystone Golf and Country Club.

The 30-story Regions Center is proudly displaying an illuminated golfer on all four sides of the building. The display will shine for several hours each evening beginning around sunset and lasting through the tournament. The display can be seen for miles – from Red Mountain and points north, to the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, to the College Hills neighborhood and more.

The Regions Center features specialty lighting at least twice each year – once to celebrate the Christmas season and again for the Tradition. Over the years, displays have been installed to recognize other momentous events, like Birmingham hosting Olympic Soccer in 1996.

The Regions Tradition means many things to our community, and the most important meaning is the impact it makes on people and children in need.
Christian White, Birmingham market president for Regions Bank

“The Regions Tradition means many things to our community, and the most important meaning is the impact it makes on people and children in need,” said Christian White, Birmingham market president for Regions Bank. “The golfer on our building is one of the most visible symbols of this tournament. We are proud to roll out the welcome mat as incredible golfers, celebrities and neighbors come together to celebrate a great event.”

Regions hosted a special lighting ceremony Thursday afternoon, welcoming Regions associates and the public to participate in golfing activities, including a golf simulator and putting green. Students from First Tee-Birmingham joined the celebration and officially illuminated the building at sunset.

“For our First Tee-Birmingham students, being part of this special event with Regions is incredibly meaningful,” said Chip Thomas, executive director of First Tee-Birmingham. “Our mission is to enhance youth development holistically through the game of golf, and the Regions Tradition plays a tremendous role in that work. Experiences like this help our students build confidence, develop life skills and create unforgettable memories – all while seeing first-hand how golf can be a force for good across our communities.”

Proceeds from the Regions Tradition benefit several Birmingham-area charities, like Children’s of Alabama and First Tee-Birmingham. To date, the annual event has raised over $25 million.

Gates for the Regions Tradition will open Wednesday, April 29 at 7 a.m. CT for the Celebrity Pro-Am. which pairs PGA Tour champions with celebrities, politicians, sports legends and others. Tournament play begins Thursday, April 30. The full tournament schedule is available here. Tickets can be purchased online. Additionally, people can call 1-877-332-7604 or email [email protected] for more information.
