Regions Bank Taps Georgia Native Mia Hubbard as Consumer Banking Executive

Trailblazing, 20-year finance veteran will lead branch-banking teams in Atlanta, Charlotte and beyond.

By Veleka Finch | November 29, 2021

ATLANTA, Ga. – Nov. 29, 2021 – Regions Bank on Monday announced Mia Hubbard has been elevated to serve as consumer banking executive leading branch-banking teams in Atlanta, Charlotte, and other markets across Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

“Mia’s commitment to service, her leadership strengths, and her ability to identify with our customers make her an ideal leader to serve in this crucial role,” said Sharon Hightower, Consumer Banking regional executive for Regions Bank. “Mia began her banking career with Regions, first serving as a teller in North Georgia, then moving into leadership roles at the local branch level, and most recently overseeing several branches across Metro Atlanta. Her experience and her passion for a positive customer experience will be a great benefit to all our branch-banking customers and associates throughout Georgia and the Carolinas, where Regions is investing in growing our business and reaching more consumers.”

Hubbard was born and raised in Macon. She joined Regions as a part-time teller in 2001 during her senior year as a scholarship basketball athlete at Kennesaw State University. She served in roles including personal banker, branch manager and retail operations manager before becoming consumer banking manager for Metro Atlanta in 2013.

Mia is a principled leader who knows our markets, our company, our customers, and our teams. She represents the kind of forward-thinking leadership we cultivate across our teams at Regions.
Scott Peters, head of Consumer Banking for Regions

In her new role as consumer banking executive, Hubbard will oversee household growth and revenue for nearly 140 Regions locations. In key markets such as Atlanta and Charlotte, Regions has invested in modernized banking locations and strategic business growth over the last several years. Further, the bank is consistently investing in its online and mobile banking services to provide a seamless digital experience that increasingly supports and complements the service people receive in Regions’ branch locations.

“Mia is a principled leader who knows our markets, our company, our customers, and our teams,” added Scott Peters, head of Consumer Banking for Regions. “She’s a people person. Prioritizing and meeting the needs of others comes naturally for her. She represents the kind of forward-thinking leadership we cultivate across our teams at Regions. From Metro Atlanta to Charlotte, and from Upstate South Carolina to the Lowcountry, Mia’s experience and insights will help Regions build on our growth.”

Hubbard first got the vision that she could one day lead teams at Regions at the beginning of her career, when she greeted someone who she assumed was a customer. It turned out, the gentleman was Regions’ consumer banking executive for Georgia at the time.

“He pointed out a specific gift he saw in my capability to attend to customer needs. He told me to keep that personal touch with my customers, and I would be well on my way to a great career here at Regions,” Hubbard reflected. “That was the motivation I needed to work toward my goals.”

Hubbard is also motivated by a desire to be a role model for Black women who want to advance at Regions.

“When I launched my banking career 20 years ago, there weren’t many women who look like me in executive roles,” Hubbard said. “It is great to see how that is changing, and I have been fortunate to have so many people at Regions invest in my career success. I want to continue to pass forward what I have learned. I really hope my selection for this role will affirm to other Black women – and women of all backgrounds – that they, too, can excel and achieve leadership positions that make a powerful and positive impact on our customers and communities.”
