BATON ROUGE, La. – Aug. 19, 2020 – Regions Bank on Wednesday announced a donation of 400 restaurant gift cards to support front-line health care professionals at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center who are treating patients and families amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Not only will the gift cards provide meals for health care professionals, money from the purchase will support local restaurants and their employees amid the substantial business impacts of COVID-19.
Through Keep BR Serving, part of Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome’s Healthy City Initiative, Regions purchased the 400 gift cards valued at $25 each.
“We are invested in the recovery and success of Baton Rouge and Louisiana,” said Danny Montelaro, Baton Rouge market executive for Regions Bank. “This donation provides another opportunity for us to support local businesses while also sharing our appreciation for the health care professionals who are stepping up during this pandemic to serve those who are most impacted. We all owe these health care heroes a debt of gratitude for their service; this is one way for us to say, ‘Thank you.’”
“Throughout the last five months, I have been continuously humbled by the public-private partnerships that have stepped up to meet the needs of our community throughout the coronavirus pandemic,” said Mayor-President Broome. “Regions Bank is demonstrating their commitment to our front-line health care workers and our locally based restaurants through their donation. The Keep BR Serving Campaign was established to assist our restaurants during a time of hardship, and since the program began in March, we have seen it support not only our restaurants, but thousands of our community members.”
The donation is part of Regions’ comprehensive response to helping people, businesses and communities affected by the novel coronavirus. Collectively, Regions Bank and the Alabama-based Regions Foundation, a nonprofit initiative of Regions Bank that supports community investments, have committed $5,000,000 in support of small-business recovery, nonprofit assistance and other community initiatives.
In addition to Wednesday’s donation, Regions will soon begin its annual Share the Good campaign. Through this initiative, Regions teams set aside time to offer personal and heartfelt thanks to people who selflessly serve our communities. This year, the focus of Share the Good will be health care professionals who are combatting COVID-19 across the communities Regions serves in the South, the Midwest and Texas.
“We appreciate Regions Bank and their support for our health care heroes,” said Scott Wester, president and chief executive officer of Our Lady of the Lake. “These gift cards will bring much-needed smiles to our teams’ faces. As we continue to face COVID-19, we cannot thank our community enough for standing with us, cheering us on and doing their part to stop the spread. We are all in this together.”
