Providing A Hand Forward: Regions Associates Recognized for Unending Efforts to Give so Others Can Succeed

Annual ‘Live United’ award highlights volunteerism, community engagement, and commitment to improving lives in Greater Nashville.

By Veleka Finch | May 6, 2021

A special group of Regions Bank associates in Middle Tennessee kept helping hands extended to neighbors in need throughout the last year, even during the challenges caused by COVID-19.

They couldn’t gather in person. But that didn’t stop their annual “stuff the bus” push for school supplies from going virtual to help children tasked with remote learning. Plus, a winter clothing drive provided 1,250 pairs of socks, 404 winter hats and scarves, 473 pairs of gloves and mittens, and 538 winter coats for those who might otherwise go without.

And there’s more. The team once again led the way in the internal fundraising campaign for United Way of Greater Nashville (UWGN) among participating banks in Middle Tennessee, helping mobilize resources to empower children, individuals and families to thrive.

Now, these Regions associates have been honored with the Live United award for 2020 from UWGN. Each year, UWGN presents the award to a community partner that embodies the spirit of “Living United” through volunteerism, engagement, campaign best practices, creativity, innovation and a year-round commitment to fighting for the improvement of lives.

This recognition embodies the spirit and culture of our Middle Tennessee associates. They continuously give of their time, talents and resources to make life better for others. The service priorities of United Way and the community engagement priorities of Regions are in lock step. We see ourselves as partners in the success of our communities. We want more people to have a chance to succeed. So, we do what we can to help level the playing field.
Lee Blank, Regions’ Nashville Market Executive

Regions Bank is committed to a strategic approach toward building inclusive prosperity in the communities where we work and live. That strategy is based on three key priorities:

  • Education and workforce readiness
  • Financial wellness
  • Economic and community development

Regions’ teams have also seen during the pandemic how the needs represented by these priorities, in many cases, grew even more urgent. That’s why – in addition to annual campaigns to raise funds for United Ways across our footprint – Regions Bank and the nonprofit Regions Foundation committed more than five million dollars toward helping nonprofits, small businesses and, ultimately, individuals – as they continue to work through the impacts of COVID-19.

Regions believes that, as a financial services organization, we can, should and must use our resources and experience in ways that help address disparities and create positive change.

Our teams are grateful for the Live United award from UWGN. But the greatest honor is the difference made in the lives of others – every day.
