BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – July 24, 2018 – Regions Bank today announced that Alan Register has been named Commercial Banking District Director for the Alabama, Mississippi and Florida Panhandle markets and will also serve as Birmingham Market Executive for the bank as part of a team of experienced bankers serving the community.
Leroy Abrahams, formerly North Central Alabama Area President, was recently named Head of Community Affairs for the company and will continue to be based in Birmingham.
In his role as Commercial Banking District Director for Alabama, Mississippi and the Florida Panhandle, Register will have responsibility in those markets for commercial banking revenue growth, strategic planning, client retention and acquisition. He will continue to report to Bill Horton, head of Commercial Banking.
As Market Executive, Register will work with colleagues and community members in Greater Birmingham to identify opportunities for the bank and its associates to make a meaningful difference in response to local needs. Through volunteer service, nonprofit support, delivering financial education, and more, Register and Regions’ entire local leadership team will consistently reflect the company’s commitment to meeting customer needs and supporting the greater Birmingham area.

Register has more than 30 years of corporate banking experience. He joined Regions in 2016 as Regional Commercial Banking Support Executive for the South Region and Florida. In addition to Register, Regions’ Birmingham leadership team includes these experienced executives:

Alan Register Biographical Information
Register is Executive Vice President, Birmingham Market Executive and Commercial District Director for Alabama, Mississippi and the Florida Panhandle. He joined Regions in 2016 as Regional Commercial Banking Support Executive for the South Region and Florida. Prior to this, Register held the positions of City President, Commercial Banking Manager, and Commercial Relationship Manager with BBVA Compass. Before his time with BBVA Compass, Register served in a National Account Manager role with Fleet Bank and served in various treasury/finance roles with GTE. Register began his banking career with First Florida Bank in Tampa in 1986.
Register is a graduate of Samford University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. He currently serves as the United Way of Central Alabama’s 2018 Campaign Chair. He also serves on the Board of Directors of United Way of Central Alabama, Red Mountain Theatre Company and the Samford University Board of Trustees.
