JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – June 28, 2024 – Regions Bank on Friday announced a $10,000 grant to Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville (HabiJax), a leading affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. The contribution will support HabiJax’s mission of building affordable homes and empowering families to achieve homeownership. Regions associates also volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity Restore.
“While Jacksonville continues to grow and the First Coast economy continues to thrive, it’s more important than ever to ensure organizations like HabiJax have the resources and support they need to keep safe and affordable housing available in our community,” said Jared Opalinski, market executive for Regions Bank in Jacksonville. “We are committed to supporting organizations that make life better for more people and create pathways to financial stability for families.”
The $10,000 grant will be used to help construct a new Habitat for Humanity home in Jacksonville.
With more than one-third of local households struggling to make ends meet according to a recent report from United Way of Northeast Florida, this investment in affordable housing will help put a family on the path to stability while providing a fresh opportunity to build generational wealth over time.
“This grant builds upon Regions Bank’s longstanding commitment to HabiJax, having previously served as a Build Sponsor for many years,” said Chris Folds, Chief Community Partnership Officer for HabiJax. “The ongoing support allows us to empower families and create lasting change in our community.”
Bank associates also volunteered at the HabiJax ReStore. The ReStore is a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Proceeds from the ReStore directly support HabiJax’s homeownership programs.

“You don’t have to swing a hammer to help families. Testing table lamps, and organizing furniture can also accomplish the same sentiment,” said Jim Branch, a mortgage production manager for Regions Bank who also serves on the board of directors for HabiJax. He was instrumental in putting this latest collaboration together. “Volunteers are the backbone of the ReStore operation. Here, Regions’ commitment to community was seen in action.”
Associates also helped in pricing merchandise and moving kitchen cabinets and other products that were for sale.
“The assistance from Regions Bank associates will allow us to better serve our customers and generate additional revenue to support our mission,” said Folds. “Together we aren’t just helping more people become homeowners, we are helping them fill it. Not only with furniture, but with hope.”
