Good Company: A True American Success Story

Memphis, Tennessee-based RDX LLC, began with two immigrants and two trucks, but has blossomed into a thriving transportation company.

American Way, Memphis, Tennessee. It’s no mistake that RDX, LLC, a transportation and logistics company that serves the continental U.S., has an all-American address.

Bulgarian immigrants Roumen Denkov and Dee Tchoparov co-founded RDX after driving trucks of their own for four years.

“RDX was founded in 2011 and here we are today, 13 years later, we’re still rolling,” said Tchoparov.

The business partners knew what it took to be behind the wheel moving freight. They had firsthand experience being owner-operators and serving clients. And as their company came together, they wanted to do everything right.

“For us, driving was probably the best investment in our business because without the driving, we wouldn’t be able to understand what the drivers are going through and the issues that they see on a daily basis,” Tchoparov shared.

It’s that understanding and drive coupled with their headquarters city of Memphis that has helped their business blossom.

“Memphis is a big transportation hub, it’s one of the largest in America and what makes it unique as it has all modes of transportation: air, roads, rail and water,” Denkov said.

The growth of RDX led to a common problem: the need for more space.

“We got lucky to rent a small room in a building and in a really quick time we took almost the whole first floor, but it was like a maze,” Denkov said. “It served a purpose, but we needed something bigger and better and most importantly, a place for the drivers with easy access to the interstate.”

Denkov and Tchoparov had a vision for their headquarters building, but they needed the help of a bank to make it happen. That’s where Regions came in.

“When they showed me their plans, I immediately got excited,” said Regions Commercial Banker Fred Hardeman. “They had financials, they had plans they already paid for, and they sat down and told me their vision and it excited me, and I said, ‘yeah, we got to figure out how to help these guys,’ and we were able to get it done.”

“We wanted to build something great, that’s the difference and Fred was very supportive, very understanding,” Denkov said. “A year and a half later, we’re here in our new office that we built with help from Regions Bank. This is an amazing place – it’s a dream come true.”

Their homebase on American Way positions them perfectly off the interstate, providing easy access for their drivers and allowing them to focus on their business.

“We are very heavily in the large event industry. We cover anywhere from local, regional, and all 48 states, so if there’s a big event, you probably see a truck of ours there,” Tchoparov said. “We didn’t build this beautiful building to stay flat, our intention is to keep on growing, keep on adding more trucks, more people and adding to our customer base.”

Keeping an eye on these big dreams is what has helped them accomplish their own American Dream.

“They’re just a bunch of great guys, running a great business, with great customers,” Hardeman said. “They’re a success story, a true American success story.”
