A New Era of Service: Regions Bank Opens Modernized Selma Branch

Selma location is the first in West Alabama to reflect Regions’ latest branch-design strategies.

By Jennifer Elmore | December 14, 2020

SELMA, Ala. – Dec. 14, 2020 – Regions Bank on Monday unveiled the company’s latest investment in its branch network with the opening of a modern location in Selma that blends convenient new technology with personalized service from local bankers.

The branch at 1105 Highland Avenue replaces Regions’ previous facility on Church Street. The site of the Highland Avenue branch had earlier served as a Regions drive-through location. Renovations of the property began earlier this year to convert that facility into one of the most modern Regions locations in the Southeast.

“By making these new investments in Selma, we are affirming our commitment to the community and to meeting the financial needs of people and businesses throughout Dallas County,” said Robert Birmingham, market executive for Regions Bank in Montgomery and the River Region. “As financial professionals, our responsibilities extend beyond opening accounts or making loans. We’re here to have in-depth conversations with customers and help them develop a roadmap toward reaching their long-term financial goals. This location places a premium on that type of service while also bringing new technology options to the area for the first time.”

A better customer experience is at the heart of the branch’s design. For example, customers will no longer have to wait behind a traditional teller line to be called up for service. Instead, customers are greeted personally upon arrival by a banker who can assist with virtually all branch-banking needs, without having to refer the customer to other bankers for certain specialized services. The result is a more consultative approach to banking – and a closer connection between local banking professionals and the clients they serve.

In addition, the branch becomes the latest to offer Regions Video Banking ATM service. Through the Video Banking ATM in the branch’s drive-through and foyer, customers can choose standard ATM service – or they can connect with a Regions Video Banker via live, two-way video for personal service during expanded hours.

Regions Video Bankers are available on weekdays from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. CT. They are also available on Saturdays from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. CT and on Sundays and holidays from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. CT. Video Bankers can help customers with account maintenance, bill payments and additional services.

Regions Bank ATMs
The Selma branch features a Video Banking ATM in the drive-through that allows customers to connect with a Regions Video Banker for personalized service during an expanded set of hours.

The Selma location also features three new Regions DepositSmart ATMs® in the branch drive-through. Through the DepositSmart machine, Regions customers can withdraw cash or make deposits of cash or checks at any time. In addition, the new branch has self-service safe deposit boxes, allowing biometric (face and finger) access, eliminating the need for a branch associate to open the vault and assist with opening a box.

“For years, people have increasingly turned to technology to help with routine transactions, such as withdrawing cash or even depositing a check. And now, with all the challenges presented by COVID-19, we’re finding people also use technology like Video Banking and DepositSmart ATMs as another socially distant option for conducting their financial business,” said Jeff Smith, consumer banking manager for Regions. “This location is about helping people bank when, where and how they prefer. We have personalized service from local bankers – and we have new technology that gives people more options than ever before.”

The branch complements Regions’ ongoing modernization of its digital platforms, including regions.com and a recently overhauled Mobile Banking App.

While Regions branches are offering in-person service, customers are encouraged to make an appointment through the appointment-setting tool linked here on regions.com. The bank is currently limiting capacity in its branches and has implemented additional safety practices to help protect the health and well-being of customers and associates during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The branch’s hours are from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Friday.

Regions Bank associates
Regions associates at the Selma branch are available to meet with customers to discuss their financial goals. Due to building capacity limitations amid COVID-19, customers are encouraged to make an appointment through regions.com.

Branch Manager Andy Denton said the local team is ready to share Regions’ enhanced approach to personal service.

“We are proud to open our new branch in Selma, and we are thankful for customers who have been patient with us during construction,” Denton said. “This modernized location gives us the platform we need to build on our history of serving and supporting Selma. We look forward to welcoming customers and others in the community to experience all the benefits of the new branch.”
