Who

Nicole Williams
Regions Business Capital Portfolio Manager

What

As part of her career evolution as a longtime Regions associate, Williams in December 2024  became one of the first professionals to earn SFNet’s Secured Finance Certified Professional (SFCP) designation and her story was featured on SFNet in June.

The SFCP credential is designed to deepen knowledge in topics critical to asset-based lending. The program’s rigorous curriculum emphasizes mastery of industry best practices, offering participants a structured path to enhance their knowledge and skills.

Why

Having joined Regions in September 2009, Williams’ path to earning the designation was shaped by personal resilience, dedication to self-reinvention, and a passion for growth within the secured finance industry.

“To expand knowledge within the field exam space, I pursued mentorships, engaged in internal bank leadership programs, and embraced lifelong learning through platforms like Coursera, LinkedIn Learning, MyCPE, the ACFE and company-sponsored educational initiatives in partnership with Guild and Emory University technical programs,” Williams said. “These efforts focused on accounting, data analytics and leadership, underscoring a commitment to adapting to the evolving demands of the industry.”

Her efforts paid off this fall, when she was promoted to portfolio manager for Regions Business Capital from her previous position as field examiner. She provides another stellar example of internal career mobility at Regions.

Her former manager sees a bright future ahead. “Nicole is a true self-starter who is passionate about expanding her skills and bringing value to Regions,” said Mark Eitzen, a managing director and senior ABL underwriter with Regions Business Capital. “She really seeks opportunities to take on more responsibilities and expand her value. She has been a real asset to the field exam team and Regions Business Capital.”

“The RBC group is so proud of Nicole for this accomplishment,” said Evie Krimm, a managing director for Regions Business Capital and her current manager. “It is clear from this and several other certifications and designations she’s recently acquired that she is dedicated to continuous learning and the opportunities it provides. She is already making a measurable contribution to our portfolio management team as well as our clients. I am grateful to have her talent and drive on board!”

Colleagues from across the organization echoed that sentiment. “Nicole has made meaningful contributions to the Collateral Analyst team, and her ongoing commitment to continuous learning and professional development is inspiring,” said Shonda Duffey, head of Customer Service/Operations for Regions Business Capital.

In Her Own Words

“My path to the SFCP designation reflects the power of perseverance and the importance of continuous learning in navigating challenges and pursuing career aspirations,” Williams said. “Through the SFCP designation and a dedication to personal and professional development, I’ve charted a course for a rewarding and impactful future in secured finance.”
