Regions Bank Hiring, Investing in Tech to Streamline Recruiting

Find your next career step at Regions.

Regions Bank employs roughly 20,000 associates, concentrated in the South, Midwest and Texas. And every day more associates are working from markets outside of the bank’s branch footprint, and from home offices across the U.S.

You may be surprised to learn that Regions has more than 1,000 positions open in any given month, spanning traditional banking roles, contact center agents, mortgage experts, technology associates and more. Ryan King, head of Talent Acquisition within Regions’ Human Resources Group, shares more about jobs in high demand and how technology is making it easier to find your place on the Regions team in this video and Q&A.

Q: The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted nearly every aspect of life. It’s also meant many more people are unemployed or underemployed. Given the economic environment, why is Regions investing in talent right now?

A: Because of the pandemic, recruiting great people to provide banking services is more important than ever. Just as our bankers adapted to serve customers in new ways, our Human Resources team streamlined our recruiting practices to connect with talented job seekers virtually, and we have a variety of positions, remote and in-person, for those seeking their next career opportunity. Today, we are still interviewing almost exclusively using video and web-based technology. We also have the capabilities to onboard new associates remotely. Due to the current environment, we have expanded our geographic reach as we recruit talent – meaning not everyone who works for Regions lives in a market where we have a retail branch or corporate office.

Q: What jobs are in highest demand right now at Regions?

A: There are two job areas in highest demand right now at Regions. First, talented bankers to serve customers. Examples include mortgage originators, corporate and commercial bankers, consumer branch bankers, wealth advisors and contact center associates. And second, professionals with technology and digital expertise. Innovating through digital and data is a competitive advantage for Regions and there is more demand for talent than supply as customers increasingly bank from anywhere. 

Q: COVID-19 has also changed the recruiting process. How is Regions using technology to attract the best candidates?

A: It’s all about building a long-term relationship with people who are considering a career at Regions, and we are using technology to do that. That starts with our Careers At Regions site on regions.com. We have made enhancements to our career site by implementing a Candidate Relationship Management (CRM) tool that helps prospective candidates and candidates identify not only the jobs they see on our site today, but also opportunities that may open up tomorrow. Once someone joins our talent community, they have the option to stay connected through job alerts, company announcements and connection with our recruiters as new positions arise. And plans are underway to use the same technology platform internally to help existing Regions associates take their next career step at the bank.

Q: That’s exciting. Anything else to add?

A: We strive to make Regions the employer of choice and our associates truly set us apart. Whether in a customer-facing role or working behind the scenes, our people are making a difference for customers during these uncertain times. It’s rewarding to be a part of, and we’re excited to welcome more great hires to the Regions team in 2021 and beyond.
