Upwardly Mobile

Recent changes to the Regions mobile app that improve the user experience and enhance security receive rave reviews.

By Kyndle Huey | May 30, 2023

Sometimes, change can be a good thing.

And in the case of the Regions Mobile App, customers are giving high marks to recent changes made to enhance the user experience.

“I really like the new app updates and appreciate the fact that I can now easily access all my account info from my phone!” said one customer.

Ratings in the Apple App Store* and Google Play Store* have been on the rise lately and reflect positive customer sentiment regarding app updates over the last few months.

Easier Money and Card Management

My GreenInsights budget and planning tools were introduced in the mobile app in early 2023. These tools, which allow users to aggregate external accounts, set budgets and create financial goals, have received high praise from users.

Here’s one customer’s review:

“I have been hoping for years that My GreenInsights would become part of the app like it is on the website. It’s all set up so well. The UI is clean, easy to understand, and customizable. I can change transaction categories to better suit me, pay my bills, add transactions, check for recurring payments, and see exactly where my money is being spent. I’m alerted about the things that are important to me without having to get all the alerts. This is truly a blessing to me and my family. Thank you!”

In addition to budget and planning tools, Regions also rolled out a new Manage Cards feature in recent months that makes it easy for customers to access card information – whether it’s debit, credit, ATM or NOW – from one place within the app.

Like MyGreenInsights, the Manage Cards feature was a big hit with customers:

“I absolutely LOVE the new card features! I cannot express how easy you have made it to navigate through my account! Great job to whoever made this decision!”

Simplified Navigation

Along with the Manage Cards feature, Account Shortcuts was introduced to provide customers with quick access to their cards and other key functionalities such as transfer, deposit and rewards.

The shortcuts make it easy for customers to access commonly used features without having to return to the main menu navigation.

One user said it best: “I love the new update with the quick actions buttons!”

Enhanced Security

Regions is always working to keep your accounts safe and one way this is done is through the use of one-time codes, a form of multi-factor authentication, in online banking and the mobile app. One-time codes at log in were implemented in the fall of 2022 to help safeguard customer accounts from fraudsters.

In the spring of 2023, an additional layer of security was added to require one-time codes before high-risk money movement transactions such as Zelle payments, Bill Pay and Mobile Deposit. This new feature reduces the risk of an account being compromised.

As one customer said, “I appreciate your security requirements. Requesting a verification text to my phone is simple, in my opinion secure and eliminates the need to constantly update and change my password. Thank you.”

I love when our customers leave positive reviews, but it’s just as important for them to tell us about issues so we can actively reach out to help resolve them.

Monitoring Our Success

Judging from our customer reviews, Regions is making an impact with its tech savviest customers, but the bank is always looking for ways to improve.

Kay Goke, Digital User Experience researcher at Regions, is part of a team charged with monitoring reviews within the Apple* and Google* Play stores and making sure customer concerns are addressed.

“I love when our customers leave positive reviews,” Goke said, “but it’s just as important for them to tell us about issues so we can actively reach out to help resolve them.”

Goke and team recently reached out to a customer who left a negative review because they were experiencing issues depositing a check within the app. They were able to respond and work to get the problem resolved, which led to a satisfied customer and an updated five-star rating.

Have Suggestions for the Regions Mobile App?

So, how do you like the new app updates? What feature you would you like to see next?

Leave a review in the Apple App Store* or Google Play Store* store.

The next change could be just the one you’re looking for.
