Regions recently announced that Legal department veteran Patrick Bodden has been selected to lead the Legal Regulatory group.
Bodden joined the bank in 2011 and has held several key roles related to regulatory compliance, specifically advising on banking laws and regulations concerning consumer protections and fair lending, BSA/AML/OFAC, and deposit and lending operations and activities.
In his new role, Bodden will provide leadership in the Legal department on enhanced prudential regulations and will serve as the primary regulatory support for major projects, supervision activities, and enforcement actions. He will also provide legal interpretations and advice on bank regulatory matters to business groups and senior leadership.
Chief Legal Officer Tara Plimpton is pleased to be able to hire from within her existing team. “This move is an example of effective internal talent development and shows how identifying career opportunities for associates who have valuable experience with the bank can be mutually beneficial,” she says. “I’m very happy for Patrick and look forward to continuing to work closely with him in his new role.”
Before joining Regions, Bodden was an attorney at Maynard, Cooper & Gale, P.C. in Birmingham. He earned a Bachelor of Arts at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas.
Patrick and his wife, Erin, and two daughters, Lena and Opal, live in the Homewood suburb of Birmingham but he has roots in many other areas of the south. “I’ve lived in Birmingham for 13 years, but grew up throughout the southeast,” he says. “So, I actually feel connected to many states across the Regions footprint.”
