Local Experience. Local Commitment. Regions Bank Announces Thad Walton as Charlotte Market Executive

Walton to guide client services and community engagement initiatives.

By Kim Borges | August 1, 2022

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Aug. 1, 2022– Regions Bank on Monday announced longtime local banker Thad Walton has been elevated to serve as the company’s market executive for Greater Charlotte.

Walton joined Regions in 2011 as a vice president of Community Banking. In 2014, he was named senior vice president within the Commercial Banking team, where he supported medium-sized business clients across North Carolina and Virginia. Walton was promoted to his current Commercial Banking leadership role in 2019. In this capacity, he guides a team of bankers working with large companies across North Carolina to help them achieve their unique financial goals. Walton is a five-time Regions Chairman’s Club Award recipient, the bank’s recognition for top performers.

“Regions Bank is dedicated to delivering an exceptional client experience and a growing range of specialty capabilities for clients across Charlotte and beyond. Thad Walton’s local experience and his dedication to building and deepening client relationships will help us introduce the Regions brand of service to more customers,” said John Turner, President and CEO of Regions Financial Corp. “We have made significant investments in Charlotte over time, and one of our ongoing initiatives is to build the best team. That’s exactly what we’re doing in the Queen City, and Thad’s leadership will help our Charlotte team grow even stronger.”

As market executive, Walton will work with Regions leaders across all banking departments to focus their teams on implementing Regions360, the bank’s comprehensive approach to meeting customers’ needs. Through Regions360, the company’s bankers learn the unique goals of clients and collaborate with colleagues from Regions’ various departments – including Commercial Banking, Consumer Banking and Private Wealth Management – to develop holistic solutions.

Walton will also work with colleagues and community members to identify opportunities for the bank to make a difference through volunteer service, nonprofit support, delivering financial education, and more.

“Investing in our communities and volunteering our time reflects Regions Bank’s mission to make life better for others,” said Walton. “By sharing our unique resources and talents, we can play an important role in helping more people and neighborhoods thrive and succeed. I’m grateful to our associates for their dedicated service to our customers and community and look forward to what we’re able to accomplish together.”

Walton earned a Juris Doctorate from the Charlotte School of Law, graduating magna cum laude. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina. Walton has also completed the Vanderbilt Owen School of Management’s Client Advisor Program and achieved Certified Treasury Professional and Certified Financial Planner designations.

Walton is engaged in the local nonprofit community by serving on the Finance Committee with Classroom Central, as a member of the American Red Cross Regional Board of Directors and as a Levine Children’s Hospital’s Dreamcatcher Society member. Walton’s honors include recognition on the Business North Carolina Power List – Finance and Insurance (2022, 2021) and being named to the Charlotte Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 class of 2021.
