Congratulations to Regions Bank’s Tim Thorson for receiving the Richard R. Oliver Leadership in Payments Award from ePayResources.
Who
Tim Thorson, Business Unit Compliance Analyst in Regions Enterprise Technology and Operations Risk
What
ePayResources is a payments association that has been empowering financial institutions and businesses to be informed, compliant, and competitive in payments for over 50 years.
The Richard R. Oliver Leadership in Payments Award is named for its first recipient, the former Executive Vice President of the Federal Reserve Bank who led their efforts to provide efficient and reliable Automated Clearing House services and to advance the payments industry through meaningful partnerships.
Why
Thorson has worked in the payments industry for over 30 years, and has spent almost 27 years of his career with Regions. During that time, he has held roles in payments operations and risk. He has served on multiple Payments Association boards, including ePayResources and its predecessor EastPay, as well as multiple terms chairing the National Automated Clearing House Association’s (Nacha) Rules and Operations committee, its Risk Management Advisory Group, and the Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) Blue Ribbon Panel. His service through these organizations has benefitted the bank by giving Regions a voice at the regional and national level where industry rules are developed.
In his own words
“Receiving this honor is a full circle moment for me,” said Thorson. “My first job working with payments was at the Federal Reserve Bank and Richard Oliver was already well known as a leader in the industry at that time. As I became involved with regional payments associations and Nacha, I had the opportunity to meet and work with him.”
“I am honored to receive this award, named for someone who was a role model for me and many of my peers throughout my career. I have enjoyed the opportunities presented by ePayResources and other industry stakeholders to work together in support of the growth and safety of electronic payments, and I appreciate the continuous support Regions has provided to facilitate our active industry engagement.”
