A Clean Hit

TC Maintenance helps keep the Regions Tradition green and clean.

By Kyndle Huey | May 11, 2024

Charles Bray’s cup may runneth over with good fortune, but rest assured his trash cans never will.

The owner of TC Maintenance, a family-run business providing cleaning services at the Regions Tradition for a decade-plus, makes sure of it.

“During the event, we set up all of the trash and recycling bins throughout the course, make sure they are emptied before they run over, haul the trash to dumpsters, help clean several of the event tents and clean the grounds,” said Bray.

The logistics of trash might not sound complex but consider this: it requires 50 grass trash racks, 50 recycling bins and 100 cardboard trash bins across the sprawling grounds of Greystone to set the spotless stage for tournament spectators.

Throughout the four-day event, Bray and team resemble the tournament golfers by quietly going about their business. In their case, that means hauling more than 3,000 pounds of trash and recycling and meticulously managing the waste generated by the more than 76,000 spectators.

For Bray, TC Maintenance began back in 2000 when he began cleaning houses with his then wife and sons Willie Jr. and Earl. The company later merged with A+ Delight Cleaning Services, owned by his wife Vanessa Bray, and has grown from three employees to 50, providing commercial cleaning services for a range of businesses, including theaters and other sporting venues.

Working with the Regions Tradition has been one way Bray has been able to network and expand his business clientele.

“Most of my jobs come from referrals,” said Bray, “And working the tournament has gotten our name in front of other businesses in the city and allowed them to see the work we do. Since the tournament moved to Greystone, we have been able to generate business with Greystone outside of the Regions Tradition.”

In fact, it was his relationship with Eventive Sports, the organization that manages the Regions Tradition, that led him to gain the business of cleaning at the tournament, after they saw the quality of his work during the races held at Barber Motorsports Park – another Alabama sporting event managed by Eventive.

I’m proud to look back at the accomplishments and successes that we have had in building this company from a just a few houses we cleaned to now working with some of the largest and most well-known events in the state.
Charles Bray, owner of TC Maintenance
