Share the Good and Thank a Teacher!

Regions Bank’s annual community support campaign celebrates educators throughout the bank’s footprint.

By Candace Higginbotham | July 26, 2022

Many of us can directly attribute our career success, or many of our achievements in life, to a special teacher who made a real impact.

And those exceptional experiences happen every day in kindergartens, elementary schools, middle schools and high schools across the country.

That’s why Regions is celebrating teachers this month, as part of the company’s community support initiative Share the Good.

Each year, local markets identify creative and meaningful ways to make a difference with Share the Good. This year’s theme is “Back to School” and teams will be working the next two weeks to ensure students, teachers and parents are prepared to start a new school year.

In the kick-off announcement for Share the Good 2022, Regions Community Affairs Manager Wendi Boyen explained the importance of the theme. “Advancing education is one of Regions’ top priorities for community engagement, so the back-to-school focus for this year’s Share the Good campaign is a natural fit,” Boyen said.

From July 18 through July 29, Regions associates will be collecting and donating school supplies and backpacks, providing financial support, and volunteering. Many of these efforts include activities with educators in mind, such as the Nashville teams’ assembling of goodie bags for local teachers. Also, volunteers from the bank’s Indianapolis Diversity, Equity and Inclusion network are working at Teachers’ Treasures, known as a “free store for teachers” who serve students from low- to moderate-income areas.

“But we also want to do something special and personal for teachers,” said Regions Community Relations Manager Brett Shaffer. “They play such a vital role in all our communities by motivating, inspiring and leading our future generations.”

Even with their incredible contributions, teachers continue to face unique challenges. Gun violence in schools continues to be a threat, political disputes about curriculum are ongoing, and the issue of low pay is underscored with recent price increases for gas and food.

In addition, a recent statement from The White House reported that America’s students are on average two to four months behind in reading and math because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

So, as part of Regions’ Share the Good campaign, we’re providing an easy way to tell a teacher how much their important work is appreciated. Three new ecards are available to send an inspiring message to a current teacher, your child’s teacher or one of your favorite former teachers.

Make sure the education professionals in our communities have a great start to the school year and share some inspiration with those who inspired us!
