Four Ways to Celebrate Love this Valentine’s Day

From showing others you care digitally to sharing sweet treats and the love of travel, Doing More Today has you covered.

By Nicole Wyatt | February 11, 2022

If there is anything to make a Monday feel a little less harsh, it is the annual celebration of romance and love. Valentine’s Day.

The standard ways to celebrate Cupid’s favorite holiday are all very well known. Boxes of chocolates. Bouquets of roses. Cuddly teddy bears and other stuffed animals.

Whether you’re a traditionalist or not, we have some suggestions of alternative ways to recognize this day that we think you’ll love.

For the Tech Lover

Didn’t have a chance to track down the perfect way to say “I love you” this Valentine’s Day? Forget to pick up a sweet confection to share? No problem, we’ve got you covered.

From conversation hearts to balloons to kittens and puppies, treat the tech lover you adore with a thoughtful digital message via a free ecard. Doing More Today has a specially curated collection of beautiful designs to show you care, and more importantly, didn’t forget, this day of love.

For the Small Business Champion

Take a dash of Dad’s wisdom and a dollop of daughter’s determination, and you get a story of small business success in the world of fast food.

“Typically, when a second generation goes into purchasing new restaurants, their parents will lend them their equity to buy into the deal, which makes things a lot easier. My dad gave me the challenge of saying, ‘No. You’ve got to go out into the world and find it on your own and truly make your banker believe that you are capable of doing this.’”

In our latest Good Company feature, we share how one Orlando woman fell in love with the family business of being a McDonald’s franchisee. Share this story with the current or aspiring small business champion – or fast-food fanatic – in your life.

For the Baking Guru

What’s greater than the love shared between a grandmother and a grandchild? Sharing the gift of time together in the kitchen.

“Mimi would not put anything into the oven until the recipe was just right. She taught me that if I took pride in the process, the end result would be delicious.”

Nashville baking legend Anne Schultz lovingly recalls memories with her grandmother and shares how she went from being an Economics major with her sights set on becoming a cost-benefit analyst, to a well-known cake baker in the Music City.

We can’t send you a cake to share with your love, but we can provide you the recipe to Schultz’s favorite chocolate ganache. Maybe whip up a batch for your Valentine or share it with the baking guru in your life.

 For the Traveler

If your Valentine lives for exploring the world around them, we have a recommendation they just might fall in love with.

“It’s so quiet here. Look around. Do you see any business or traffic? This place is so peaceful.”

Located just 20 miles from the port city of Mobile, Alabama, is Fairhope. It’s known as an enclave for artists, well-heeled retirees and young families who love access to the city but prefer the Spanish moss and oak trees that shade homes and undulating expanses of pecan groves and small farms to the east.

Founded in 1894 by an eclectic population of dreamers, Fairhope is both a nice place to visit and a hard place to leave.

Learn more about this Utopia in our Good Towns series and consider it as a future destination for yourself and the travel lover in your life.

XOXO, Doing More Today
