It’s hard to look at the latest news and not see something about ChatGPT or some other aspect of the expanding world of AI or machine learning.
There are plenty of questions about what’s happening and where this technology is going. But one of the more imperative questions is: What are the guardrails?
How are businesses moving simultaneously down the road of using AI to improve service and efficiency, and at the same time doing it responsibly?
Chun Schiros, who leads Regions Enterprise Data Science and was named Data Leader of the Year by Corinium, looks at that question and much more in the most recent episode of the Driven By Data: The Podcast, hosted by Kyle Winterbottom.
Driven By Data features some of the most important thought leaders in the world of data and data science talking about what’s happening in the industry and where it’s headed. The podcast is available through RSS, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcast and Amazon Music.
Here are a few excerpts of Schiros’ comments:
On innovation:
“I think of innovation in our [banking] environment as new ways of doing things that will challenge the status quo to create new value and new revenues or cost saves for the business. How (do) we use data? To be more intelligent and insightful and less complex … and the results are action-driven and scalable. [That’s what] data innovation looks like.”
On keeping service at the forefront of AI:
“The objective is to service our customers. Prioritizing (what we do with AI and machine learning) … based on customers’ needs is our north star. What does the customer need? And then, how do we serve them faster, with less friction?”
On responsible use of AI:
“As we see the revolutionary impact that AI could and will potentially bring to humanity … we’ve got to be very mindful about how we use it in a way that best serves our customers. The more we can test and explain our AI solution, the better we can build trust and credibility with end users.”
