#ShareTheGood in Action: Boots on the Ground to Clean Up Louisiana

How Team Green is making life better.

By Nestor Mato | May 4, 2023

The days are longer. The weather’s getting warmer. Spring has sprung.

And teams from Regions Bank are doing some springtime sprucing with community partners. It’s part of Regions’ #ShareTheGood program – a time we set aside to roll up our sleeves, volunteer, and make our communities a little bit brighter.

In this latest #ShareTheGood update, we see what’s happening in Baton Rouge and Houma, Louisiana.

What’s happening here?

Regions associates in Baton Rouge along with one child of an associate teamed up with Keep Tiger Town Beautiful to pick up trash along a busy area in mid-city.

What’s your favorite part about doing this?

We all want our city to be clean and welcoming, and I love when our associates join together to make it more beautiful.

Any unexpected or funny things happen along the way?

We found several car parts, including part of a bumper.

What’s the biggest takeaway you want people to know?

Don’t litter!

Over in Houma, education is another important way of giving back.

What’s happening here?

The Lady Bug Ball is a beloved community event that was brought back to Houma this year by the Louisiana Wetlands Discovery Center (LWDC).  The event is meant to educate the public about environmentally friendly practices for gardening while providing various activities for children.

How did this come about?

Regions associate Heather Bradford is the board president of LWDC and brought this event to us just in time to celebrate Earth month.

What’s your favorite part about doing this?

Many Regions associates volunteered for the event and judged the costume contest. It was a great opportunity to come together for this effort.

What’s the biggest thing the team has learned from this experience?

Education is key to saving our environment.  Lady Bug Ball did a fantastic job with educational stations that were very interesting to the children in attendance.
