Regions Responds: Storm Recovery Options Following March 17, 18 Tornadoes

Customized assistance for people and businesses impacted by severe weather.

By Jeremy King | March 19, 2021

We knew the weather would be bad. Indeed, several tornadoes touched down.

While most large cities were spared the worst, a number of severe storms and tornadoes caused damage in several communities across the South and into the Midwest on March 17 and 18. It’ll be a long time until several towns are back to normal. And Regions Bank is committed to being part of the recovery by offering a series of services1 to help people and businesses with the recovery.

Those services include:

  • No check-cashing fees for FEMA-issued checks cashed in a branch2
  • Regions Mortgage Disaster Relief Purchase and Renovation loan programs
  • Personal and business loan payment assistance3

Beyond these services, Regions teams are here to listen to customers’ unique needs and connect them with options that can help. Here is some contact information to get you to the right people:

  • Mortgages, home equity loans and lines: 1-800-748-9498
  • Other consumer loans: 1-866-298-1113
  • Any other banking needs: 1-800-411-9393

“We’re nearing the height of the springtime severe weather season in many of the communities we serve, and no matter what the weather brings, Regions is always here to help,” said Michelle Walters, Regions’ Consumer Banking regional executive serving portions of the South and Midwest. “Our branches are open; our team is ready. We have years of experience in connecting people with financial solutions, and we want to hear from anyone who has financial challenges that we can help meet.”

Regions also maintains a Disaster Resource Center, linked here on Regions.com, to connect people and businesses with helpful insights.

Steve Nivet, who serves Regions as Consumer Banking regional executive for areas along the Gulf Coast, said Regions’ commitment is year-round, no matter what people are going through.

“While we are glad that many communities escaped with little damage from the storms on March 17th and 18th, we cannot lose sight of the fact that others are facing a lengthy cleanup and recovery,” Nivet said. “We’re here for our clients every step of the way.”

1Offers are available to people and businesses who suffered impacts from severe storms and tornadoes on March 17 and/or 18, 2021. Offers may be subject to other exclusions and restrictions and are subject to change without notice. All loans and lines, deferrals, extensions or forbearances are subject to required documentation and credit approval. Residency restrictions may apply.

2The FEMA check no-check-cashing-fee offer is available only to Regions customers; if you are not a Regions customer, you must enroll in Now Banking. No checking account is required to enroll in Now Banking. Regions reserves the right to refuse to cash any check.

3Subject to credit approval and additional terms. Interest will continue to accrue during the period that the payment is skipped or deferred. For installment loans, deferring or skipping payment may extend the maturity of your loan but will not automatically extend any optional insurance. Forbearances, skipped payments, and deferrals generally (a) vary by customer, (b) postpone–rather than forgive–certain payment obligations, and (c) require payment in full of the postponed payments at the end of the forbearance or deferral period, in addition to any other amounts that come due, unless you make other arrangements with Regions to resolve the delinquency.
