Regions Honors Sarah Stewart with April Better Life Award

Head teller has been an inspiration to colleagues, customers and community for 55 years.

Sarah Stewart has stood behind the Regions Bank counter in Bassfield, Mississippi, for 55 years. This head teller has served generations, mentored hundreds of associates and overcome a life-threatening health crisis of her own.

Stewart was born in Bassfield, graduated from Bassfield High school and has worked at her hometown branch her entire career. Her customers are like family – she’s known many of them all her life. Others are drawn to her by loved ones and friends who’ve trusted her with their banking needs for decades.

Stewart’s experience makes her a treasure to her colleagues. She’s thoughtful, caring and uses her vast knowledge of Regions products to help meet customer needs.

In 2000, Stewart’s customers and associates rallied around her when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a year of treatments to survive the disease.

In 2003, Stewart helped start the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Jefferson Davis County, Mississippi. She volunteers annually with the event. Regions is donating $1,000 to the cause in her honor.

When Stewart learns of a cancer diagnosis in her community, she often reaches out to the patient, shares her story of fighting the disease and encourages the patient not to give up hope.

Stewart also serves as her church treasurer and volunteers as a Bible school teacher each summer.

Congratulations to Sarah Stewart for being the April 2015 winner of the Better Life Award!
