Regions Honors Gwendolyn McNeal with February Better Life Award

Ever-willing volunteer serves abused and neglected girls year-round.

Gwendolyn McNeal knows the importance of growing up in a stable home with parents who care for and love you. It’s something the Regions Business Center Loan Originator was thankful for as a child and hoped was the case for other girls.

As she grew older, McNeal learned that a childhood like hers was not the norm for all girls. Her heart was broken for girls who face abuse, neglect and abandonment, and she wanted to help.

She soon found out about Grace House, a nonprofit organization in Fairfield, Ala., that provides a stable home for girls from crisis backgrounds with the commitment to develop the girls into mature, devout women. McNeal began immediately serving at Grace House, and has formed strong bonds with the staff and the girls they serve.

McNeal has been a member of Grace House’s Women’s Auxiliary Board for more than 10 years. For several years, she has chaired Hats Off, the charity’s largest annual fundraiser. Proceeds cover year-round housing expenses, food, clothes and education for Grace House girls. Regions is donating $1,000 to Grace House on Gwendolyn’s behalf.
