BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – April 30, 2020 – The Regions Foundation, a nonprofit initiative of Regions Bank that supports community investments, on Thursday announced a $75,000 grant for the Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC), a nonprofit organization helping small businesses impacted by the novel coronavirus.
Serving businesses in all 64 Louisiana parishes, the LSBDC provides no-cost management and technical assistance to companies, including virtual assistance during COVID-19. LSBDC personnel are working to help businesses mitigate and survive the financial impacts of the pandemic by sharing information on federal programs available to help, as well as other funding sources.
“We’re thankful to the Regions Foundation for their contribution to the Louisiana Small Business Development Center,” said LSBDC State Director Carla Holland. “Small businesses truly are in a position of uncertainty, and this allows us to continue assisting them with information and resources they need to navigate these unprecedented times. A contribution to the Louisiana Small Business Development Center is a contribution to all small businesses of Louisiana.”

“The work of LSBDC represents an important lifeline for Louisiana business owners who are seeking assistance and guidance as they navigate the impacts of COVID-19,” added Marta Self, Executive Director of the Regions Foundation. “The Regions Foundation is proud to support this work as part of our commitment to help communities during this crisis, and we will continue to identify more avenues for community support as we move forward.”
The LSBDC grant is one of 11 grants announced by the Regions Foundation for organizations across the South and Midwest on Thursday. Further, on April 24, the Regions Foundation announced a series of grants for Community Development Financial Institutions helping small businesses. More grants will be issued in the coming weeks.
The Foundation also announced recently that it will match donations by Regions Bank associates to United Way organizations and Community Foundations responding to COVID-19 needs.
Also, Regions Bank has issued financial support to a variety of additional nonprofits, and the bank recently donated a series of advertisements to food banks as well. Through that donation, advertisements originally purchased by Regions to promote bank services were instead given to food banks to encourage viewers and readers to financially support food bank services during the crisis.
Separately, Regions Bank continues to offer a series of options for customers suffering financial impacts from COVID-19. Additional information on Regions Bank resources can be found at www.regions.com/coronavirus.
