Regions Foundation Announces $20,000 Donation to United Way of Northwest Florida

Contribution to support United Way’s General Fund following extensive hurricane recovery efforts.

PANAMA CITY, Fla. – June 5, 2019The Regions Foundation, a nonprofit initiative of Regions Bank dedicated to supporting community engagement, on Wednesday announced a donation of $20,000 to United Way of Northwest Florida (UWNF).

UWNF leaders plan to use the $20,000 donation from the Regions Foundation to support grants for nonprofit organizations that are working to meet a variety of community needs in the areas of health, education and income. The UWNF’s General Fund has been used extensively during the last eight months to help people with long-term hurricane recovery needs, meaning the donation from the Regions Foundation can help UWNF continue to address ongoing needs across the Panhandle as well.

Regions Bank and the Regions Foundation are committed to serving and supporting communities during all seasons.

“This has been one of the most challenging times in the history of our community. We are proud to complete the restoration of our primary Bay County facility, and we are honored to support United Way in its mission of serving the people of the Panhandle.”

UWNF serves six counties in Northwest Florida through a broad range of services and a network of partner agencies.

“Regions Bank has been a faithful partner of the United Way of Northwest Florida for many years,” said Bryan Taylor, President and CEO of United Way of Northwest Florida. “Like so many of us, their business suffered extensive damage in Hurricane Michael. We proudly stand with our community partner as they reopen their main branch. We thank the Regions Foundation for this gracious donation and their continued support of the work we are able to do within the community.”

Regions associates came together to celebrate the completed renovation of the Panama City Main branch that was damaged by Hurricane Michael. Here, associates and other community leaders pose with a framed flag that was saved before the storm and will now be on display at the branch.

Regions Bank has been an active member of the Panama City business community for many years.  On Wednesday, Regions Bank hosted a community open house at its newly-restored Panama City Main branch. The branch was one of Regions’ most severely damaged facilities following Hurricane Michael. The building’s lower level reopened in December while renovations were ongoing to restore the rest of the building. The bank’s technology, administrative and training offices now occupy the newly renovated second floor.
