Regions Co-sponsors SBA Small Business Week Event

Helping the Small Business Administration help entrepreneurs.

By Chris Goldschmidt | May 29, 2025

Regions means business when it comes to helping small businesses.

That’s why Regions supports the efforts of the Small Business Administration (SBA) in its ongoing mission to provide small-business owners with resources and support they need to thrive.

As part of Small Business Month, Regions co-sponsored the 2025 Small Business Week Award Recognition Ceremony hosted by the SBA Alabama District Office.

SBA bankers Jerry Hammonds and Jeff Latham represented Regions Bank as the co-sponsor for the event.

“One of the things we do is really make our business customers’ lives better with SBA lending,” said Jerry Hammonds, VP and Small Dollar Banker. “Personally, it makes me happy to see the effect of how our lending helps businesses open a new location, hire more people and really make a difference in the community.”

Regions associates provided valuable SBA loan information in Fort Myers, too! Carla Kyzynowski, Commercial Relationship Manager (left); Jean Barnes, Commercial Relationship Manager (3rd from left); Lisa Shuryn, SBA Banker (6th from left); and Daniel Eveloff, Market Executive/Area Commercial Banking Leader (7th from left) offered valuable insights to entrepreneurs at a joint SBA Week event. The event was sponsored by the Sunshine State Economic Development Corporation, the Lee County Economic Development Office, and the Florida Small Business Development Center.

SBA and Regions. Working together.

Regions believes in collaborating with the SBA. And the SBA feels the same way. Roderick D. Perkins, SBA’s contact for Lead Lender Relations and Economic Development, discussed how important it is for banks and the SBA to work together to help entrepreneurs.

“Access to capital is the life blood of all small businesses,” Perkins said. “Through capital infusion, small businesses can create jobs, grow and expand operations and pay taxes. Regions Bank plays a critical role in helping small business start, grow and expand through their work with SBA.”

Regions is classified as an SBA Preferred Lender, which means it has earned the confidence of the SBA to originate, service and liquidate loans. In turn, that creates tangible benefits for small businesses needing funding in a timely way. As of May, Regions SBA has closed over $108 million in SBA Lending in 2025

More than an event. Our commitment.

Even after Small Business Week, Regions’ work continues in ways large and small.

As one example, Regions will participate in the SBA’s Lender Match on June 3, to be held at the SBA’s offices in downtown Birmingham. At the Lender Match, the SBA helps pair clients with those lenders best suited to their borrowing needs.

Hammonds and Latham will be there, as well as seeking other opportunities throughout the year to help.

“It’s something we really enjoy. At last year’s Lender Match, we met 20 businesses,” added Latham, VP SBA Banker. “We learned about their stories, offered guidance, and were able to help some of them with funding.”

In short, it’s just part of how Regions helps entrepreneurs fulfill their goals with a full range of lending and support.

Or, as Hammonds put it, “When a business grows and becomes successful because of both the capital and the advice we provided, it’s the best thing we do.”
