Charles McCrary, chair of the Regions Financial Board of Directors, has been recognized by the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) in its 2020 NACD Directorship 100™.
The annual listing recognizes directors, corporate leaders, policymakers and influencers who have had the most significant impact on boardroom performance and corporate governance. The NACD considers factors such as integrity, informed judgment, high performance standards and other key attributes.
“We are fortunate at Regions to have a distinguished and engaged board of directors, including our chair, Charles McCrary,” said Regions Financial Corp. President John Turner. “I’m pleased that Charles has been recognized by the NACD for his influence and expertise and congratulate him on this honor.”
A member of Alabama’s business community for over 40 years, McCrary served as president and CEO of Alabama Power, a public utility company, from 2001 through February 2014. He has served the Regions Financial Board of Directors as independent chair since the beginning of 2019 and previously served as lead independent director and as chair of the board’s Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.
The NACD is a nonprofit membership organization and the recognized authority on leading boardroom practices, fostering collaboration among directors, investors and corporate governance stakeholders. The 2020 honorees will be recognized at the NACD Virtual Summit in October and highlighted in the NACD Directorship magazine’s Annual List of the Most Influential People in Boardrooms and Corporate Governance.
