COLUMBUS, Ga. – March 3, 2021 – Regions Bank on Wednesday announced Greg Allmendinger, Commercial Banking relationship manager for the company, has been promoted to serve as market executive for Regions in Columbus, Phenix City, Ala., and surrounding Chattahoochee Valley communities.
In 2020, Allmendinger joined Regions after a 42-year career in retail and commercial banking at Wells Fargo. He began – right after graduating from Woodland Christian High School in Phenix City – as a teller at the National Bank of Fort Benning, a Wells Fargo predecessor. Over time, he rose to serve 10 years as Columbus market president. Allmendinger worked alongside many bankers who are now Regions associates. So, his move to Regions was like a homecoming.
“Many of the leaders and associates Greg works with at Regions, he’s worked with in the past. We’re glad he chose to rejoin some of his former colleagues and bring his successful blend of business and community acumen to our team,” said John Turner, President and CEO of Regions Financial Corp. “As market executive, Greg will be the face and voice of Regions Bank for our clients and community partners in Columbus and Phenix City, and he will guide how our local teams meet the holistic financial needs of the people and businesses we serve. We know his leadership will be a tremendous asset as we build on our legacy of service to this important region.”
As market executive, Allmendinger will work with leaders from across Regions’ business groups to help their teams deliver Regions360, the bank’s comprehensive approach to meeting customer needs. Through Regions360, bankers get to know the unique goals of clients and collaborate with colleagues in Consumer Banking, Commercial Banking and Wealth Management to develop solutions to reach those goals.
“It’s easy to do business at Regions because we are a relationship bank. It’s less about individual products and services and more about how we connect with clients in a comprehensive way,” Allmendinger said. “We look at all aspects of a customer relationship and use all resources of the bank to make recommendations. It’s a more personalized approach – the way a banking relationship should be.”
Allmendinger will also work with colleagues and community members to identify opportunities for the bank to advance its key priorities for community engagement. Those priorities include financial wellness, education and workforce readiness, and economic and community development.

Currently, Allmendinger is board president for the Russell County Child Advocacy Center (RCCAC), a nonprofit that annually educates nearly 8,000 Alabama schoolchildren about recognizing and reporting child abuse and sexual assault while also warning of the dangers and legal repercussions of sexting and human trafficking. In addition to his personal work helping RCCAC support children, Allmendinger plans to expand the bank’s local community involvement.
“For me it’s about broadening the involvement by our teams in Columbus, Phenix City and across southern Georgia to increase Regions’ visibility in the area,” Allmendinger pledged. “My goal is to help our teams foster relationships that build inclusive prosperity, help clients meet their financial goals, and show Regions as a true business and community partner.”
Allmendinger earned his business degree from Troy State University’s Phenix City campus.
