Peggy Nelson, Consumer Banking Manager in Mobile, Ala., Receives Regions Bank’s Top Associate Honor

Servant-leader receives great joy from seeing others win

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Regions Bank today announced that Peggy Nelson, a Consumer Banking Manager in Mobile, Ala., is the March 2016 recipient of the Regions Bank Better Life Award. The Better Life Award is the top honor given to a Regions associate for outstanding dedication and job performance as well as exemplary involvement and commitment to the community.

In addition to the recognition, Regions donates $1,000 in the name of the recipient to a nonprofit organization of the winner’s choice. Nelson chose the Making Memories Hunt, an annual outdoor hunting event for adults or children with disabilities. The hunt is coordinated by the Quality Deer Management Association.

“The Making Memories Hunt is for everyone from wounded warriors to children in wheelchairs,” Nelson said. “My husband, son and I serve as guides, and last year we had hunters of all ages.

“It’s great to see the families bring out their kids with all the smiles. Seeing the difference it makes is what keeps me going. In fact, it’s the driving force behind everything I do.”

Nelson’s joy in seeing others succeed also drives her to support several other causes across Baldwin County. As an American Red Cross Advisory Board member, she chairs the Bank Baldwin in Blue Jeans fundraiser. She is a charter member of the Central Baldwin Sunset Rotary Club and secretary/treasurer of the Robertsdale Baseball Booster Club.

Nelson is a member of the Central Baldwin Education Foundation, the Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce and the Baldwin County Economic Development Board. She is assistant finance chair for Rosinton United Methodist Church, where she also supports fundraising for youth programs and global missions.

“Peggy is such a beloved figure in the community, and she can’t go anyplace where she doesn’t know several people. I’m always amazed at how many people come up to her when we’re out on branch visits,” said Michael Menk, the Regions Consumer Banking Executive in Mobile. “Some of them want to talk about banking, some of them just want to chat. But she’s so active in her community that she’s a fantastic face for Regions Bank throughout the Baldwin County area.”

A video that illustrates Nelson’s professional dedication as well as her commitment to community service can be found on the Regions Financial YouTube channel.
