New Technology. More Personal Service. Regions Bank Opens Uptown Charlotte Branch

New location reflects Regions’ latest branch-design strategy, increasing focus on personal service.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – July 20, 2018 – Regions Bank on Friday joined the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce and construction firm Brasfield & Gorrie to cut the ribbon and unveil Regions’ most modern branch in the Carolinas to date.

“I want to congratulate Regions Bank on opening its new state-of-the-art facility in Uptown Charlotte,” said U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis. “This is a testament to the growth Regions has experienced in the area, and I look forward to them serving North Carolinians for years to come.”

The branch is at the base of the new 615 South College high-rise, where Regions recently moved specialized banking teams into 64,000 square feet of office space. Terry Katon, Charlotte Market Executive for Regions, said the branch space on the main level represents the latest milestone in the bank’s growth in the market.

“For years, Regions has been home to some of the most skilled and experienced bankers in Charlotte. Now, we are proud to build on our growth by offering an Uptown branch that caters to today’s customers by blending the best in personal service with the latest in technology,” said Katon, who also serves as head of Regions Capital Markets and CEO of Regions Securities. “Regions is making banking easier, more convenient and more meaningful by having deeper conversations with customers to help them reach their financial goals and by offering the latest technology so when a customer needs quick, efficient service early in the morning, in the evening, or even on Saturday or Sunday, our Uptown facility and our digital options have what that customer needs.”

Regions’ Video Banking and DepositSmart ATMs nearby provide expanded services around the clock.

The open design of the branch does not include a traditional teller line. Instead of waiting to be called to a counter, visitors are greeted face-to-face by a Regions banker who can deliver a wide array of services in a more convenient and comfortable setting. Those services range from helping with routine transactions to meeting in-depth needs, such as planning budgets, analyzing financial options that can help people save money, or creating a personalized roadmap to help customers reach their own, unique financial objectives.

Additionally, Regions personnel at the company’s Uptown offices deliver Commercial Banking services, customized Private Wealth Management solutions for investment clients, and a wide range of Regions Mortgage options.

Charlotte Chamber CEO and President Bob Morgan welcomed Regions’ growing presence in the community.

“We’re excited to be a part of Regions’ dynamic growth in Uptown Charlotte,” Morgan said. “The new, state-of-the-art location is a tremendous asset to our financial services sector.”

Construction engineering firm Brasfield & Gorrie worked with Regions to implement the bank’s strategy to offer a more holistic approach to branch banking.

“We are grateful that our valued client, Regions, once again gave us the opportunity to bring their project vision to reality,” said Michael Byrd, Brasfield & Gorrie Vice President and Division Manager, who oversees the company’s Charlotte operations. “This new space and retail branch signal a new chapter for Regions in the Queen City and add to our growing portfolio of work in the area.”

The branch also becomes the first Regions location in the Carolinas to offer Regions Video Banking. Video Banking ATMs allow customers to choose to connect with a Regions Video Banker via live, two-way video. Along with processing most transactions, Regions Video Bankers help customers with account maintenance and general inquiries during expanded hours.

Regions Video Bankers are available on weekdays from 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. ET. They are also available on Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., Sundays from noon – 6 p.m. and during most holidays. A video detailing Regions Video Banking technology, produced by the Charlotte Chamber, can be viewed here.

The Uptown location features one Video Banking ATM in the lobby of 615 South College, just outside the main branch entrance. A second Video Banking ATM is located along the sidewalk outside the building, near the intersection of South College Street and East Hill Street.

Even outside of Video Bankers’ expanded hours, the ATMs can always function as Regions DepositSmart ATMs. In addition to dispensing cash and providing account information, DepositSmart ATMs can accept deposits of cash or checks at any time, day or night. They can also cash checks around the clock, providing another quick, convenient option for Regions customers.

Further, Regions is offering an additional DepositSmart ATM at the light rail station adjacent to 615 South College.

“Regions continues to invest in digital banking options, but at the same time, we find that branches are still the primary place where people prefer to open accounts and have in-depth discussions about their financial goals,” said Amy Garnett, North Carolina Consumer Banking Manager for Regions. “This branch places a premium on that type of personal, customized service while also providing greater technology that’s designed to meet customers’ needs around the clock.”

New branch features an open layout custom-built to enhance personal service.
