ORLANDO, Fla. – June 24, 2022 – Regions Bank on Friday formally unveiled its latest Central Florida investment with the grand opening of its Waterford Lakes branch in Orlando.
Bank leaders joined the East Orlando Chamber of Commerce for a ribbon cutting at the branch, which combines technology with the personal service of skilled bankers to make banking easier for customers and help them achieve their financial goals. The celebration recognized businesses and nonprofit organizations devoted to building more inclusive prosperity in the surrounding community.
The Waterford Lakes unveiling follows the opening of other Regions locations in Central Florida in recent years, including modern branches in Narcoossee, Winter Garden, Windermere, and Kissimmee.
“More people and businesses have discovered how Central Florida is an incredible place to live, raise a family, operate a business, and build a successful future,” said Chris Hurst, Orlando market executive for Regions Bank.
“Orlando is a key growth market for Regions, and the Waterford Lakes branch is a reflection of our commitment to offering the best in personal service combined with the latest in technology. Every day, we are focused on introducing the Regions brand of service to more people and businesses in Central Florida, and this new branch is a significant milestone in our long-term growth.”
The bank’s growth is based not only on competitive services, but also a strategic focus on community engagement. As part of the Waterford Lakes opening, Regions presented a $5,000 grant to the Central Florida Urban League (CFUL), a nonprofit devoted to ending generational poverty through education, employment, and entrepreneurship. The bank also presented CFUL with school supplies collected by Regions associates for students at the Whitney M. Young Academy, which serves kindergarten through eighth grade.
“We have clear priorities for supporting the communities where we live and work,” Hurst explained. “Those priorities include advancing education and workforce readiness, helping support economic and community development, and increasing financial wellness. We hope our gifts of gratitude today multiply into successful futures for our neighbors for years to come.”
Regions also saluted healthcare heroes in the days leading up to the grand opening. Bank associates delivered 100 lunches to staff at University Behavioral Center. Don Julio Mexican Kitchen catered the meals.
The Waterford Lakes branch is along East Colonial Drive at Woodbury Road, just west of where Colonial Drive, Highway 408, and the Challenger Parkway come together. The new facility replaces Regions’ previous branch at the corner of Lake Underhill Road and Huckleberry Finn Drive and is more accessible and convenient for consumers and businesses on the east side of Orlando.
“The Regions name is now seen by more than 50,000 commuters who travel this stretch every weekday,” said Earl Connell, consumer banking executive for Regions. “This is a prime location, conveniently placed near some of the largest education, innovation, and healthcare centers in Central Florida and near residential neighborhoods that are expanding daily.
“While our advanced digital banking tools place the power of Regions in the palm of your hand, we find people and businesses place a great premium on also having local bankers they can turn to for customized advice and guidance. That’s what we’re delivering at every Regions location across Central Florida.”
When customers enter the Waterford Lakes branch, there is no waiting behind a traditional teller line. Instead, people are greeted personally by a Regions banker who listens to their needs and connects them with colleagues who can assist with everything from basic transactions to offering in-depth conversations to help assess their financial health. This innovative approach to personal service is powered by a solution called Regions Greenprint®.
Through Greenprint conversations, Regions bankers help individual and small business customers create personalized plans that offer recommended next steps to reach their financial goals. In addition to Greenprint, technology at the branch includes three DepositSmart ATMs that can accept deposits of cash or checks at any time, day or night – in addition to cashing checks for Regions customers on the spot.
“The response to this new location – and Regions Greenprint – has been very encouraging,” said Dakiti Mobley, consumer banking manager for Regions. “It lets us know Regions’ comprehensive approach to banking is what is needed in this community of professionals, students, and families.
“Our loyal customers are quickly growing accustomed to the modern amenities available here, and new customers appreciate how our setup meets their expectations for a seamless banking experience,” she said. “We are happy to be of service and look forward to continuing to meet the banking needs of this thriving community.”
