Making Banking Easier in Coral Gables: Regions Bank Marks Success at Modern Sunset Place Branch

Early outreach to law enforcement, fire, and health care heroes forged growing bonds between the new branch and the community.

By Veleka Finch | December 19, 2022

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Dec. 19, 2022 – When Regions Bank Corporate Security Investigator Diana Celaya learned the company was planning a grand opening for its new branch in Coral Gables earlier this year, she knew exactly who to invite to the celebration.

In more than 34 years working in corporate security in the area, Celaya has built an extensive ‘rolodex’ of contacts in the law enforcement and fire and rescue worlds. After a few calls and emails, Celaya helped assemble quite a guest list for the event that took place in March.

“Nearly 40 firefighters and officers showed up,” Celaya said. “It made me feel good. It was a sign of the respect, support, and appreciation for all these years we’ve all worked together to serve and protect the community.”

As her fellow heroes showed up at the branch near the corner of South Red Road and Sunset Drive in Miami-Dade County. Celaya used the chance to introduce her comrades to the Regions way of modern banking. They caught on as soon as they entered the facility.

There’s no traditional teller line. Instead, local bankers greet customers as soon as they arrive and are prepared to handle basic transactions as well as hold in-depth conversations about setting and meeting long-term financial goals. Those conversations are the cornerstone of Regions Greenprint®, an innovative approach to personalized service.  Regions bankers help individual and small-business customers create personalized plans that offer recommended next steps to reach their financial goals. In addition to Greenprint, technology at the branch includes a walk-up DepositSmart ATM that can accept deposits of cash or checks at any time, day or night – in addition to cashing checks for Regions customers on the spot.

“We formed great relationships with many of our community heroes at our grand opening that have grown throughout the year,” said Julian Idarraga, Consumer Banking Manager for Regions. “Through those initial Greenprint talks, we’ve been able to help many of them achieve financial goals for this year, and we are here to help them continue on a successful financial path. We thank them for their service and are honored to be of service to them.”

Our combination of advanced technology with highly personalized service has brought the branch of the future here today – allowing more people who live and work in this community to bank how they want, when they want.
Chris Cruzpino, Miami market executive for Regions Bank

Regions also made health care heroes part of the Sunset Place grand opening. Associates delivered 250 lunches to medical staff at Larkin Hospital. It was the bank’s way of letting staffers know their new Sunset Place neighbors appreciate the special way they care for members of the community. Regions associates extended an open invitation to allow the bank to return the favor with services at the branch.

“Not only is this growing area of South Florida important to Regions Bank’s overall company strategy, but we live here, we work here, and feel it is of greatest importance to support the members of our community who keep things going every day,” said Chris Cruzpino, Miami market executive for Regions Bank.

“The response we’ve received since we opened the Sunset Place branch lets us know we filled a great need when we opened our doors,” Cruzpino added. “Our combination of advanced technology with highly personalized service has brought the branch of the future here today – allowing more people who live and work in this community to bank how they want, when they want.”
