Lifting off in the Lowcountry: Regions Bank Unveils ‘Branch of the Future’

Modern, convenient facility elevates personal service, offers enhanced technology.

By Veleka Finch | March 3, 2022

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – March 3, 2022 – Regions Bank on Thursday announced its most innovative Charleston-area branch investment to date with the opening of the bank’s Mt. Pleasant-Wando Crossing location.

The modern facility along U.S. 17, just east of Interstate 526, was built from the ground up to introduce South Carolinians to Regions’ style of modernized branch banking, which is focused on taking a more in-depth, holistic approach to meeting customers’ needs.

At this location, there is no waiting in a traditional teller line to be called up to a counter for service; instead, when customers enter the branch, they are greeted personally by a Regions banker who can handle a full range of branch-banking services. While the branch’s team is ready to help with account opening and transactions, the team specializes in offering more in-depth conversations with customers to listen to their unique needs and develop long-term money plans.

“Our focus at this new location is to combine the best in personal service with the latest in technology,” said Brian Ball, market executive for Regions Bank in Charleston. “Banking continues to evolve, and Regions is making investments to deepen relationships with customers in terms of convenient branch locations, digital tools, and more. The cutting-edge design of this new branch, along with its prime location, give Regions greater visibility in a high-growth area, and we look forward to welcoming people in and showing them what sets Regions Bank apart.”

One of those differentiators is Regions Greenprint®. Through one-on-one Greenprint conversations, Regions’ bankers listen to the needs, goals, and questions of individual consumers as well as small-business customers. Regions then helps customers create a tailored roadmap toward increasing their financial health and reaching their goals through recommended next steps.

In addition to the Greenprint system, technology at the branch includes two drive-up DepositSmart ATMs that can accept deposits of cash or checks at any time, day or night. The machines can actually cash checks for Regions customers on the spot, as well.

In addition, the branch brings Regions’ Video Banking ATM service to the area for the first time. At a walk-up Video Banking ATM near the building entrance, Regions customers can choose standard ATM service, or they can connect with a Regions Video Banker via live, two-way video. Video Bankers deliver personal service during expanded hours, including evenings and weekends.

Since the doors opened, the new location is already exceeding customers’ expectations.

“We’ve had the opportunity to educate loyal customers about the new features that abound at this new branch,” said David Harris, consumer banking manager for Regions. “Customers appreciate that they can walk right up to someone who can help them create a customized Regions Greenprint financial plan. They are also delighted that our branch is open on Saturdays – which is a first for Regions in South Carolina and another way we’re helping customers bank when and how they want.”

“Another example is how Video Banking ATMs help extend personal service beyond traditional branch hours,” added Jimmie Lawrence, Mt. Pleasant-Wando Crossing branch manager for Regions. “During the evening, on weekends, and even on holidays, Regions’ Video Banking team offers personalized service, answers customers’ questions, and helps take care of a range of transactions. What we have at this branch, along with Regions’ enhanced digital banking tools, really helps us offer our best to the people of Greater Charleston.”

The branch at the convenient, accessible Wando Crossing Shopping Center replaces two older-format Regions branches nearby. Regions leaders said the investment made at Wando Crossing reflects the importance of the Charleston area to the bank.

“We live here, we work here, and we understand the needs of local customers,” Ball said. “This location helps us build on our commitment to the area in a very meaningful way.”
