Landmark Leap: Regions Moves Fort Smith Main Branch to Historic District

Modern location reinforces Regions’ downtown commitment, delivers more convenient service.

By Kim Borges | December 17, 2024

FORT SMITH, Ark. – December 17, 2024 – Regions Bank on Tuesday announced the relocation of its Fort Smith Main branch to a new site in the heart of the West Garrison Avenue Historic District, reinforcing the bank’s longstanding commitment to the heart of downtown. The branch moved from 723 Garrison Ave. to 524 Garrison Ave. and will be a more prominent feature of the iconic retail heart of the city.

Sitting along a vibrant stretch known for its historic architecture and proximity to the Arkansas River and neighboring Oklahoma, the new Fort Smith Main location was designed to deliver a modern banking experience of personalized service and state-of-the-art technology with a deep respect for the city’s unique downtown heritage.

“We are proud to reaffirm our commitment to downtown Fort Smith, a city with a distinct culture and rich history here in the River Valley,” said Cheryl Howell, Commercial Banking relationship manager and Fort Smith market executive for Regions Bank. “Our new location represents an investment in this community and symbolizes our belief in the continued revitalization of its historic district. As one of the city’s oldest streets, Garrison Avenue remains vital to Fort Smith’s identity, and Regions Bank is honored to be part of its future.”

Our new location represents an investment in this community and symbolizes our belief in the continued revitalization of its historic district.

While staying true to its historic surroundings, including incorporating a longtime vintage bank vault door in its architecture, the new branch incorporates cutting-edge technology to create an elevated customer experience. For instance, customers can use interactive tablets as Regions bankers guide them through their free, personalized Regions Greenprint® plan. The Greenprint plan is a unique tool that allows customers to develop tailored financial roadmaps for their short- and long-term goals, with ongoing updates as life circumstances evolve.

The branch also includes an instant-issue debit card printer, ATM vestibule and single-service safe deposit box access using biometrics to provide easier, more secure access. The branch features three drive-through lanes behind the building as well.

“We’ve designed this branch with the future of banking in mind, ensuring it’s equipped to serve our customers with the best tools and resources available,” said Troy Dryzga, Regions’ Consumer Banking manager for Northwest Arkansas and Southwest Missouri. “From interactive technology to personalized financial planning, our Fort Smith Main location provides greater convenience. At the heart of the customer experience is our local team that’s ready to take the time to listen to your unique needs – and then deliver custom-tailored solutions.”

Regions leverages its Fort Smith Main branch in its comprehensive approach to customer service. Any customer – whether an individual, a business, or both – can have all their banking needs met at the branch through the Regions360 initiative. Regions360 means Fort Smith branch bankers bring additional Regions colleagues from the company’s Mortgage, Commercial Banking and Wealth Management teams to the table to identify personalized services to help customers build financial confidence and address their unique needs, whether local, national or global.

Regions will welcome the community to a public ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for the branch in mid-January with the Fort Smith Chamber of Commerce. The event will feature remarks from local leaders and a tour of the new location, showcasing its modern features.

“The Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce congratulates Regions Bank on their new location,” said Tim Allen, President and CEO of the Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce. “The bank’s investment in downtown Fort Smith underscores their commitment to fostering economic growth and supporting our community. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this new branch will bring to residents and businesses alike.”
