In the Limelight: Ken Jones

Regions branch manager named Civic Leader of the Year in Montevallo, Alabama.

By Wayne Thompson | September 14, 2023

Congratulations to Regions Bank’s Ken Jones for becoming the Montevallo Chamber of Commerce’s first two-time Civic Leader of the Year.

Who

Ken Jones,
Branch Manager, Montevallo, Alabama

What

Montevallo Chamber of Commerce’s Civic Leader of the Year award honors the local leader who has made life better for others through their “focus on the common good” and participation in the civic life of the community. Jones is the chamber’s only two-time Civic Leader of the Year recipient in the history of its Montevallo Community Awards program. He first won in 2007.

Why

After joining Regions in 1993, Jones established himself as “Mr. Montevallo” – managing the Regions branch at 910 North Main St. for all 30 of those years. He’s not only led the team and business but the community through such roles as past president of the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club boards of directors, and as current chair of Economic Vitality for the Montevallo Main Street Board of Directors. Many Montevallo residents know Jones from one of his favorite pastimes — lining up entrants in the town’s Christmas Parade which he’s done for nearly two decades.

Tyler Lipe, Consumer Banking Manager for Jefferson and Shelby counties, said of Jones, “Among the many things that makes Ken delightful to work with and manage is that he’s always thinking about how he can help his team and the community succeed. He brings a great ‘can do’ attitude and enthusiasm to everything he does. As a result, he finds ways to truly make things better for everyone.”

In His Own Words

“As bankers, especially in a small town, I think it’s very important that we’re not only visible in our communities but actively involved in economic development, charitable and nonprofit organizations, financial literacy and community events.  I like to think that we’re the face of Regions in our communities.  This goes along with our culture of giving back to the communities we serve and our values of Putting People First, Reaching Higher and Doing What is Right.”
