HR leader named to Birmingham Business Journal’s 2023 Top 40 Under 40 class.

By Evelyn Mitchell | March 2, 2023

Congratulations to Regions Bank’s Janel Taylor for being named to the Birmingham Business Journal 2023 Top 40 Under 40 class.

Who:

Janel Taylor, senior vice president, human resources fulfillment manager

What:

The Birmingham Business Journal Top 40 Under 40 awards. These awards – now in their 39th year – honor up-and-coming stars of the Magic City’s business scene who have distinguished themselves in their fields before the age of 40. The newest Top 40 class was selected out of hundreds of nominations received. This year’s class represents a diverse range of industries and companies and serves as a great reminder of the talent that exists in metro Birmingham.

Why:

Taylor leads a team of more than 30 human resources associates responsible for delivering programs at scale to the bank’s roughly 20,000 associates. Examples include disability and leave services, regulatory and background screening, the delivery of learning programs and oversight for Regions’ associate-only child care center in consortium with Social Security Administration and Harris Early Learning Center. Just a few weeks into her current role, the pandemic arrived. In a matter of 72 hours, Taylor and team launched a new quarantine leave program. Contact tracing, social distancing, enhanced cleaning and remote work were operationalized across multiple states and business groups by Taylor and her team.

In Her Own Words:

“The best advice I’ve received is to be my authentic self. It’s incredibly easy to allow self-doubt and negative self-talk to occupy space and destroy your confidence. When I became comfortable bringing my whole self to every organization and every interaction and every relationship, it was then when my career really took off.”
