Chase Maxwell to Serve as Mississippi Gulf Coast Market Executive for Regions Bank; Succeeds Cheryl Johnson in Key Leadership Role

Maxwell to build on Johnson’s legacy of superior service and community engagement.

GULFPORT and BILOXI, Miss. – Jan. 4, 2021 – Regions Bank on Monday announced Chase Maxwell has been elevated to serve as the company’s market executive serving the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Maxwell succeeds Cheryl Johnson, who retired at the end of 2020 as Regions’ market executive for Gulfport, Biloxi, Bay St Louis, D’Iberville and Picayune. Johnson served Regions and its predecessor banks for more than 43 years. Under her leadership, the company has delivered a wide range of customized financial services to meet local needs.

Maxwell most recently has served Regions clients as a Commercial Banking relationship manager and market executive for Pascagoula and Ocean Springs. In his expanded market executive role, Maxwell will build on Johnson’s foundation of delivering competitive financial solutions from local bankers, while also providing meaningful community support.

As market executive, Maxwell will work with leaders from across Regions’ business groups to carry out Regions360, the bank’s comprehensive approach to meeting customers’ needs.

Through Regions360, the company’s bankers learn the unique goals of clients and collaborate with colleagues from Regions’ various departments – including Commercial Banking, Consumer Banking and Private Wealth Management – to develop holistic solutions.

In addition, Maxwell will work with colleagues and community members to identify opportunities for the bank to make a meaningful difference through volunteer service, nonprofit support, delivering financial education and more. Maxwell will continuing serving as commercial relationship manager leading teams that deliver financial guidance and support to small-business owners and major employers across the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Chase Maxwell, Mississippi Gulf Coast market executive for Regions

Maxwell joined Regions in 2015 as a commercial relationship manager in Gulfport. Before joining Regions, Maxwell worked in Mortgage and Consumer Banking roles with other financial institutions in the area. He began his banking career with AmSouth, which merged with Regions in 2006. Maxwell brings more than 15 years of banking experience to his new role.

Maxwell is active in the community. His involvement includes previous roles with Leadership Jackson County and the Jackson County, Mississippi, Young Bankers Association. Maxwell and his family live in Ocean Springs.

Johnson’s tenure at Regions has included serving as senior vice president and lending advisor for Regions Private Wealth Management. In that role, she served Regions’ investment clients with tailored financial advice and market insights. Her career has been focused on team leadership, market development and relationship management.

Johnson was honored as the 2017 Woman of Achievement at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Success Conference. Additionally, she has been recognized as one of Mississippi’s 50 Leading Business Women, as the South Mississippi Outstanding Community Leader, and as the Corporate Woman of Achievement by Lighthouse Business and Professional Women.

“I am extremely grateful for a 43-year career with Regions Bank that allowed me to serve the financial needs of my customers and support community efforts,” said Johnson. “My greatest reward has been galvanizing our Regions teams to work on community projects that support growth and opportunity for everyone. Volunteering is in my blood, and I look forward to continuing to serve my community in retirement.”
