Branching Out

How Regions’ Portable Branch Facility quickly rolled in to serve Cabot customers.

By Kim Borges | March 11, 2021

A record-breaking snowfall. Bone-chilling cold. Power outages and no running water.

Millions of Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi residents recently received these unwelcome gifts thanks to a late-winter wallop unlike anything the area had seen in 20-plus years. In addition to packing a serious punch, the storms also created a serious problem for the Regions downtown branch in Cabot, Arkansas: a burst water line in the ceiling.

“We walked into the branch and discovered water pouring onto the floors from the ceiling,” said Amy B. Camp, Regions’ Cabot Downtown branch manager. “We had about two inches of standing water throughout the building.”

But not to worry. Because while the weather may have shattered records, Regions deployed the bank’s full-service portable branch facility in record time to ensure service disruption was minimized for Cabot customers.

“Our portable branch facility unit opened prior to lunch Feb. 25 and was immediately put to use by several customers,” said Terri Bell, market manager with the bank’s Branch Delivery team. Bell traveled to Cabot to support the effort. “I assisted a couple, and they were very happy to see us. The Cabot team did an outstanding job in helping to ensure we were up and running smoothly and quickly.”

Our customers have been teasing us that we’re literally the leaders in mobile banking when they see the portable branch.

The portable branch allows customers to use an ATM around the clock and conduct transactions with Regions bankers during regular business hours. The ATM on the side of portable branch is a Regions DepositSmart ATM, which can accept deposits and cash checks for customers at any time, day or night. The facility also features encrypted satellite uplink technology, security cameras and 24/7 on-site security.

Beyond its technology capabilities, Bell noted the added benefit of convenience in bringing the portable branch to Cabot.

“Our next closest branch is approximately 18 miles away,” said Bell. “This allows our Cabot Downtown customers to be served at their normal location – just in a little different fashion.”

What’s been the reaction among Cabot residents to the Regions portable branch facility rolling into town? Well, let’s just say it hasn’t gone unnoticed.

“Our customers have been teasing us that we’re literally the leaders in mobile banking when they see the portable branch,” said Camp.

“One of our team members mentioned we made it to the local Facebook page,” added Bell. “Someone asked, ‘What’s happening at Regions in Cabot?’ It’s a small lot with the big green machine front and center!”

Ready to serve customers at a moment’s notice.

That support has meant a lot – not just to customers, but also to Cabot associates.

“From the moment we walked into the mess, our team has given everything they have to make sure our customers are taken care of,” said Camp. “Everyone has pitched in with any task that has presented itself – and there have been many! We are grateful to Regions for sending us the portable branch facility so we can continue to serve this community that means so much to us.”
