Back to Business in South Louisiana: Regions Bank Reopens Houma Branch Damaged by Hurricane Ida

In addition, Regions teams are now operating temporary branch facilities at Galliano and Barrow Street locations.

By Veleka Finch | December 16, 2021

HOUMA, La. – Dec. 16, 2021 – Regions Bank on Thursday announced the complete reopening of its full-time location at 1830 Martin Luther King Blvd. in Houma. The branch was heavily damaged by Hurricane Ida in August. Regions teams served customers onsite from a portable branch facility until construction repairs were completed earlier this month; while the branch signage above the entrance still awaits complete restoration, the doors below are open and welcoming customers back inside.

“Regions’ portable branch facility allowed us to continue offering full service to customers during the extensive repairs that were needed for our main building, but nothing compares to standing inside a fully restored branch today. To complete it in a little over three months is a testament to how hard we’ve been working to return things to normal for our customers,” said Tracy Broussard, consumer banking manager for Regions in southern Louisiana. “Our customers are glad we’re back, and we’re happy to continue serving them with customized financial solutions from local banking professionals.”

Restored operations at the MLK Houma branch come as Regions opened temporary facilities at its Barrow Street and Galliano sites – in Houma and Cutoff respectively – this week. Permanent branches at those locations were significantly damaged by Ida and will soon be restored. The temporary facilities are supporting ongoing financial services for these locations while extensive repairs move forward.

“These temporary facilities will allow us to make banking easier for our neighbors as we all continue to recover from Ida,” said Broussard. “In addition to our digital services that are always on, the opportunity for our local bankers to once again provide personalized services in these communities helps us to deliver all Regions has to offer to meet financial needs in these times.
