WAVERLY, Tenn. – Jan. 24, 2023 – Regions Bank on Tuesday joined leaders from the City of Waverly and the Humphreys County Chamber of Commerce to break ground and formally begin construction on the newest Regions branch to serve West Tennessee.
Regions’ future Waverly branch will be built at 402 West Main St. The location is expected to open by the end of 2023.
The Waverly Plaza branch had served Regions customers for years before being severely impacted by Waverly’s historic 2021 flooding. The new West Main Street location, across the street from a temporary trailer currently serving customers, will provide a permanent home for Regions associates and a more modern, convenient, and seamless banking experience for customers.
“Regions Bank has been part of Waverly for generations, and that means standing with our neighbors during the good times – and the difficult times,” said Scott Beard, market executive for Regions Bank in Jackson and West Tennessee. “Today marks a day of celebration as we write the next chapter of serving the hard-working people and businesses of Waverly. We are committed to serving a crucial role in helping Waverly emerge stronger.”
The new Waverly location will feature a banking environment built around the customer experience and offering personalized service from local bankers. Instead of waiting to be called to a teller counter, when people walk into the new branch, they will be greeted face-to-face by a Regions banker who can help customers improve their financial health and well-being.
Mayor Buddy Frazier said the bank’s construction of the West Main Street location offers a visible sign of growth and hope in Waverly.
Our community is very excited to see the continued commitment that Regions Bank is making in our city. This project gives us hope that as a community that we are on the road to a full recovery.

“Our community is very excited to see the continued commitment that Regions Bank is making in our city,” said Frazier. “I observed that within a very few days after the Aug. 21, 2021, flood that Regions Bank was operational in a mobile facility serving the community in a very traumatic time in their lives. The construction of the new branch facility shows that recovery efforts are underway and hopefully will encourage others to reinvest locally. This project gives us hope that as a community that we are on the road to a full recovery.”
Humphreys County Chamber Executive Director Daryl Mosley also emphasized the impact of businesses like Regions reinvesting in the area.
“Regions Bank has a long, respected history within our community,” said Mosley. “We are grateful to see their continued commitment to service the wonderful people of Waverly and Humphreys County.”
Within days of the 2021 floods, Regions deployed its portable branch facility to Waverly so customers could still access all of the banking services provided by the traditional branch and receive disaster-relief assistance before opening the temporary trailer location.
Additionally, the Regions Foundation, an Alabama-based nonprofit initiative primarily funded by Regions Bank, contributed $50,000 to flood relief. The funding was divided evenly between United Way of Humphreys County and The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. Regions associates also personally provided support, donating more than 300 essential items like flashlights, batteries, buckets, box fans, clean-up supplies and more to help with recovery efforts. The bank is donating $1,000 to St. Vincent de Paul’s Food Pantry as part of the groundbreaking celebration.
“There were some incredibly challenging days that tested everyone’s resolve early on, but we quickly transitioned to finding ways we could help,” said Mary McMillan, manager of the current Waverly Plaza and new Main Street branch. “I am so proud of how our team at Regions and the entire community came together to support our neighbors when they needed it most. It truly defines the spirit of Waverly.”
