‘A Passion for Healing’

Miami physician Gilda DeLaCalle says she’s improving health in Miami and gaining confidence about the future because of her 21-year relationship with Regions Bank.

By Wayne Thompson | November 15, 2024

With its rich cultural diversity and vibrant Cuban and Latino community, Dr. Gilda DeLaCalle knew Miami was the ideal place to make her passion — improving community health — her purpose.

But it would take eight years after emigrating from Cuba in 1996 with her three children — while learning English — to earn her license and begin practicing family medicine in the United States.

Today, with a staff of 25, DeLaCalle operates three DeLaCalle Medical Center locations in greater Miami. Begun in 2009, the business provides one-stop family medical and dental care for residents.

“We have a passion for healing and focus on providing personalized care to patients with chronic diseases,” DeLaCalle said. “I know we have proven to be an invaluable resource to our community, offering tailored support to those facing complex health conditions and delivering comprehensive services.

“Regions Bank has played an instrumental role in helping me grow my practice and our long-standing relationship is built on trust,” she added. “As a small business owner, I rely on their financial services to manage day-to-day operations, including payroll, overhead costs, and funding for growth initiatives.”

DeLaCalle said Regions’ support has been crucial, allowing her to expand services across Miami-Dade.

“They take care of the financial side of my small business so I can focus on what I do best—caring for my patients. I have always felt genuinely cared for as a customer at Regions Bank, whether as a personal banking, mortgage and investment customer or business owner.”

In the latest example of Regions’ support, DeLaCalle said the West Tamiami branch team helped her secure Ascentium Capital financing through Regions for medical equipment to treat common skin conditions seen in the coastal community.

A division of Regions Bank, Ascentium offers small businesses financing of up to $2 million for equipment and technology with low-to-no upfront costs and extended term lengths. The business became part of Regions in April 2020.

DeLaCalle enjoys the convenience of banking digitally or in person at West Tamiami, where Manuel Vidal has managed for 16 years.

I think we’ve been able to provide the right financial solutions and guidance for Dr. DeLaCalle for several years because we take the time to listen and understand her needs and goals, and that’s what I enjoy most about my career at Regions.

“I think we’ve been able to provide the right financial solutions and guidance for Dr. DeLaCalle for several years because we take the time to listen and understand her needs and goals,” Vidal said, “and that’s what I enjoy most about my career at Regions.

Vidal said he goes to work each day, excited by the opportunity to provide personalized advice, guidance, tools and insights that put customers on a path to financial confidence and wellbeing.

“For small business owners like Dr. DeLaCalle, we get to be part of their professional and personal financial growth,” he added. “That’s a wonderful feeling.”
