Regions Bank Announces Christian White as Birmingham Market Executive

Banking leader returns to Birmingham, championing customer service and community engagement.

By Veleka Finch | January 8, 2024

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Jan. 8, 2024 – Regions Bank on Monday announced Christian White has been named Birmingham Market Executive for the company’s headquarters city. White will also serve as Commercial Banking District Director for the Alabama, Mississippi and Florida Panhandle markets.

White, a Mobile native, joined Regions in Birmingham in 2003 and served for 10 years in a number of positions within the Commercial Banking group. He returned to Mobile in 2013 and was named Mobile Market Executive for Regions in February 2020. White has been instrumental in growing Regions’ commercial lines of business across South Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. White will report to Brian Willman, head of Regions Commercial Banking.

“Christian’s career arc is a great story, one that’s defined by being in tune with the needs of our customers, providing a superior client experience, and consistently achieving positions of leadership that deeply benefit the people and businesses we serve,” Willman said. “Christian has a great balance of business and banking skills, client knowledge, and a natural ability to lead. He’s a highly valued C-suite advisor and is well respected in the community. He’s an ideal choice to serve as Market Executive in our headquarters city and to lead Commercial Banking across three of our core states.”

As Birmingham Market Executive, White succeeds Alan Register, who has been elevated to serve as Commercial Banking Specialized Executive for Regions. In this role, Register will lead teams across the company’s multi-state footprint that deliver Small Business Administration lending, franchise banking, agriculture banking, and additional Commercial Banking specialty capabilities.

John Turner, President and CEO of Regions Financial Corp., said White and Register serving in these key leadership positions further reflects the bank’s commitment to exceptional service and strategic growth.

“Regions Bank’s commitment to the Birmingham market cannot be overstated,” Turner said. “Having Christian come back to Birmingham as market executive puts an emphasis on that fact. Alan Register set a high bar in the market executive role, and we had to choose his successor carefully. Christian understands the community fabric of Birmingham, the importance of our internal culture, and the dynamics of our markets across Alabama, Mississippi and the Florida Panhandle. When you combine that with Christian’s Commercial Banking experience, and Alan’s insightful vision for our specialty banking services, you have a powerful indicator of the growth we intend to pursue in our headquarters city and beyond.”

As Birmingham Market Executive, White will now lead the bank’s comprehensive Regions360 approach to identifying and meeting customers’ unique banking needs. White will team with Regions colleagues in Consumer Banking, Commercial Banking, Mortgage Banking, Wealth Management, and other functions to deliver holistic financial solutions for Birmingham-area clients.

“I’m excited about coming back to Birmingham. It’s a privilege to serve in this role in our headquarters city,” White said. “I look forward to re-engaging with partners I’ve worked with in the past and emphasizing the culture of Regions360, which enables us to deliver greater value for clients while driving further growth – both for Regions and our customers.”

White will also oversee Regions’ strategy for community engagement in the Birmingham area. Regions prioritizes community-based initiatives that address three key priorities:

  • Economic and Community Development;
  • Education and Workforce Readiness;
  • And Financial Wellness initiatives.

“As a bank, we are only as healthy as the communities we serve. It’s important the community knows we are here to see Birmingham thrive, and we’re putting effort into raising the quality of community life all around us,” White added.

White is a 1999 graduate of U.M.S.-Wright Preparatory School and is a 2003 graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, where he earned a degree in Economics. He and his wife, Emily, have two sons, James and Whit.
