#BanksNeverAskThat Over the Phone

It’s your bank calling, but your gut tells you something isn’t right.

By Doug Segrest | October 5, 2022

Hey, it’s your bank calling.

At least that’s what they claim.

Immediately, something seems fishy because someone on the other line is asking for information you aren’t comfortable giving out over the phone.

Good for you for recognizing this potential scam.

Throughout the month of October, Regions Bank and banks across the nation are supporting the American Bankers Association’s #BanksNeverAskThat campaign to help keep customers safe.

In this quick, informative video, we provide a couple of easy reminders that banks won’t ask for the following over the phone:

  • Your PIN number
  • Your password
  • Or your Social Security number

You can learn more about spotting phishing campaigns and test your scam IQ by going to BanksNeverAskThat.com.

Our shared goal is to help keep you safe. And the best way is through education.

“The best way to protect yourself from fraud is to be aware of trending scams and learn how to respond when something doesn’t seem right,” said Kimberly Reece of the Fraud Strategy Customer Experience team. “At Regions, we have teams working diligently to keep our customers informed, through a number of great resources.

Keep turning to Doing More Today throughout October for more tips and quick videos.

And, as always, you can find more fraud-prevention information from us at regions.com.
