‘It’s Part of Regions’ DNA’

The Americans with Disabilities Act recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. Learn how Regions remains committed to an even better future.

By Doug Segrest | January 13, 2021

One in four Americans has a disability. That’s one reason the American Disabilities Act resonates today, 30 years after it was enacted by Congress.

And that’s why Kathy Lovell, disability services and outreach manager at Regions, has made her passion a career choice that’s benefited the bank and its customers.

“Not only do we want to check the compliance box that we’re required to, but we also want to be ADA friendly. There’s a difference,” Lovell said. “Taking it a step further and doing it for the right reasons, and not just checking a box. We want it be part of our DNA.”

That means Regions approach is ever evolving.

In a brief interview Lovell explains how Regions became an Autism Friendly environment, teaming with the Autism Society to train associates while creating quiet zones and providing sensory packs in branches.

A global pandemic only strengthened the resolve to help others. For example, Regions funded a tech program for the Indiana School for the Blind and Visibly Impaired in 2020, ensuring students learning virtually from home had access to technology to continue their studies.

Lovell points out that Regions is committed to providing products and services that are accessible while also supporting partnerships and relationships by providing volunteers and funding for various projects.

“It’s part of Regions’ DNA,” she said.
